I wish ALL tents had blackout, I'd happily take that extra weight and bulk for a good nights sleep. I was going to get the cheaper £200 version but the other half insisted on blackout. In fairness, it does make sense and I'm really happy with this tent. The only bad point is that I haven't got a clue how to get it back in the bag!

4:58 and 7:25 I can see that the base sheet is not glued permanently to the base part of the sleeping compartment nor to the bottom part of side tent side. How is it attached, is it Velcroed only? Are there openings between two Velcro pads? Honestly why isn't it permanently glued together, since the setup and fold down doesn't require the separation of the base protecting sheets? Thank you for the excellent video.

Hi mate. Subbed. U forced me to buy this tent. 44 Yr old and never camped. 7 Yr old son and wife. We dropped £790 in decathalon yesterday. I have a question. Should I pitch this on a ground sheet? Or just straight out the bag? I spent the money as prepared to go and get every pennies worth out of the tent. Living in North East means we are not far from awesome areas. I hope you don't mind but I am going to need questions answered at times and u seem to be where to go for great advice. BRB off to test the tent in the garden.
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
Personally I’m not going to bother because the base is so thick. However, you can just buy some tarp off Amazon in a similar size for approx £10.
@westgatelad3 жыл бұрын
@@BackpackingUK cheers for that. I put it up to test and took longer to get back in bag than to put up. Got to take it back out. Ground made underneath damp even though weather was roasting. So not I need to take it out and dry the bottom because I have just read about mould. I have nowhere to hang it so will buy a 500x500 tarpaulin from screwfix today and let it dry off the grass and on the tarpaulin. Don’t want to ruin it before we actually use it.

Hi Andy, thanks for your great video on this tent. I’ve seen a couple of other videos and people have used an additional ground sheet to protect the built in one. I'm uncertain about the air poles thing. You have to carry extra gear (the pump!), those poles look prone to bend with the wind (I might be wrong though) and if one of those air tubes get punctured? They look quite robust but the vacation - and probably the whole tent - would be wasted. With the old school poles, you replace the pole and are good to go. What do you think about that? Is it reasonable or...? Thanks.
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
Decathlon have tested the tent in the wind and have even wind-rated it. Punctured tubes or broken poles, there’s always a risk. It’s really well made (and heavy for it) so I think it’ll withstand what we want to use it for. Easy of set up shouldn’t be overlooked with air tents, it’s a game changer!

60 seconds per pole and then peg it out on top, where is the saving compared to a pole tent? Just read the description, 20 mins to set it up on your own, I can do my old Vango Icarus 600 with fibre glass poles quicker. It's a shame, I was looking at air tents for next year but hadn't realised they went up like that. I naively thought you pumped them up and they raised themselves leaving only the pegging left.

This took longer because I had to sort out all the guy lines. The next time I used it I guess took approx 10-12 minutes. I think only the dome style air tents pop-up.
