Hey man I could really use your help, I am really on the fence between the terra nova southern cross 2 and the Nortent Vern 1 for solo, all season, U.K use. Any advice would be incredibly helpful. Love the videos!

Re: insects, especially biting ones. I’ve found that taking an antihistamine like cetirazine (Reactine, etc.) ahead of time helps me not be so itchy when they inevitably bite me. And as a consequence, I’m conditioned to not hate them so much.

Great review Andy, and a great looking new tent from Nortent. However, the weight is a real issue that cannot be ignored. For that weight for a two-vestibule and roomy four season tent, I'd rather go with the Hilleberg Allak 2, which would also handle the winds better for summit camping.

£24k I reckon. I noticed some said in the comments about an auction for your gear. Sounds like a good plan. I have only just started out, so getting my hands on some good quality gear, would be fantastic at a decent price.

Hi Andy, WIldbeare has just done a video with the XDome and in her comments she has said that the cross bar snapped on the top of the tent. Seems your comments a while ago about the durability of the poles were accurate
@BackpackingUK2 күн бұрын
There are loads of cases of snapped poles, bent inserts and loose inserts. I’ve got the X Dome, I’m just not happy using it far away until I get the new poles in April. Imagine if I drove 4 1/2 hours to the Lakes, 4 1/2 hour hike just to pitch the tent on the summit and the poles failed 😨

Just a guess but do you think the 'extra' guy lines at the peaks are for suspending the tent between trees so you don't need poles? seems strange there would be 2 lots of guys at the same point? Great video🙂

Very good reviews. You help me choose the next boots. But solar panels and wind turbines are destroying the environment, the electric grid and the economy. There is no reason whatsoever to thumbs up them.

Personally I don't think the Delta Ground Anchor was in low enough, if the horizontal part touches the ground or even digs onto the ground, they really do not move, I have used them in a force 8 storm, they held up perfect, but the down sides are carrying more things, you need a small mallet (or smooth rock), and ground with small to no stones, I tie a loop of para cord on the back end so I can take them out easier, so I tend to take 4 of them and a few home made snow/sand pegs, im not paying them prices for pegs when making my own cost under ten quid lol.
