I've heard about that airline service between Las Vegas and Area 51. I wonder if they make that trip every day, or do they stay on location for a period of time, such as a week? Sounds like it might be an interesting job! In January, they mail you a W-2 from "US Dept of Agriculture" at a rural Kentucky PO box! The government is always humorous when they don't intend to be. LMAO! I would like to take a winter photo excursion tour of the Nevada Northern RR out of Ely in the future. At that point, I will have some time to take this drive. Another great video.
@BackRoadsWest14 жыл бұрын
Well, it's not an airline. 20-30 years ago, it was a contract airline. But I think that is no longer the case. The jets carry daily commuters, so no, they don't stay for a week. But I'm sure some people do. Ely in the winder is cold yet beautiful. Lots of steam from the puffer. Oct is when they have their big Halloween extravaganza - check their website.

For many years I had to make trips from Las Vegas to the Pioche area and would drive near that extremely remote area. I once saw a low flying military aircraft to my front left (coming from that test site direction and it crossed the hi way 1/2 mile in front of me. very very low and very fast. There are also wild horses in the higher elevations just south of Caliente (same area)

@Jasonhb074 жыл бұрын
Looks like a late model 4Runner, I'm guessing based on the hood scoop. You'd want a 4wd drive vehicle with good clearance and a decent-sized fuel tank 16-18 gallon...just like these guys. There's so much to see off the beaten path and you need the range and offroad capability to do so.

We were driving along this highway from the Tonapah area (near where the missile is), the driver had the cruise control set at something ridiculous, I seem to remember it was just under 100 mph. Suddenly an F15 went directly over the top of us in full burner and then pulled up spiraling into the sky. It felt like the van was going to be blown off the road. The driver clocked the aircraft in his rearview it was that low but didn't say anything to us until after it went by. ;-)
@BackRoadsWest13 жыл бұрын
Isn't that a great experience!? We had that happen to a few times. Once, 2 F-15s buzzed I-15 at Mountain Pass. The 2 went straight down the freeway, then banked hard right. It was so cool. I wonder how many people noticed it. We've also had a few F-18s buzz us near the Panamint Mtns near Death Valley, most likely returning from Star Wars Canyon.

The girls in the shops said it's been happening a from training games going on.

I went hiking around out there in the 80s. I didn't think anything was out there, I saw some signs on my uncle's fence that said Warning Keep out and US Airforce but they were very old and half rusted. Had a 1950s look to them. I asked about what was over there and they said that's where the bombs were set off. While I was hiking I was probably being watched while I thought nothing or nobody was there. I never heard of Area 51 until years later.
@troytaylor1913 Жыл бұрын
I have seen 6 UFOs. 1 in the San Juan Mountains, It few over me about a hundred feet up, and it was so luminous there were moving shadows everywhere. It was moving slowly like it was searching for something. no sound. 5 in Tucson during the day. Three at the same time were dropping out of the sky and then hovering for a few minutes then they would go straight up in disappear in half a second, it seemed like all three were controlled by the same pilot because when they went all went at the same time, they must have been going thousands of miles per hour. Not a sound or sonic boom. 2 days later Desert Storm war started.
@troytaylor1913 Жыл бұрын
After they saw me hiking around out there for the third time they probably didn't worry about me so much. They knew it was just a neighbor going for a short hike, not a spy. I didn't want to climb over the hills, too far.
