Like everyone else said, this was phenomenal. The way the speaker began his like, 15th paragraph and you could hair chairs creaking under people changing positions. The “shiiiit…” and the woman murmuring after learning of Peter’s death. How professional the speaker was, and how absolute sus peter’s “death” was. The phone at the end. The camera footages. All of it, perfection.

Kane was so smart here. Instead of animating the full movements of a human, which is something considerably hard to make convincing, he took advantage of the way old security cameras captured images, so he only had to animate certain poses without much transition between. Genius move.

I heavily doubt he did that. he probably did the whole running animation and then chose the best frames or just used the exact frames that the camera would pick up. doing it the other way would take more time and might not even look right in the end

that’s not really how animation works…. in order to get those “smear frames” or motion blur, the models have to be moving. also based on the link in the description, it seems he has a mocap suit now, which greatly eases the animation process and explains why the movement feels so realistic!

What's most disturbing about this story is the fact that Peter was almost deemed the first person to successfully escape the Backrooms physically unharmed. But due to his mental state that changed because of his time in the backrooms, he died by a natural cause.

This was perfect closure to Peter (yes, the detail about him dying from the stumble may be a cover-up). It shows that Async was methodical and cautious while studying the time-warp and trying to assimilate Peter, all while keeping the project running as smoothly as practical. Async isn't some exaggerated cartoon-villain shadow organization that 'only cares about the money, power and higher-ups'. Major props for writing a compelling monologue - as others have said, it felt like I was in a real meeting.
@tualatrout8526

Switched thought - Peter’s still alive, as hinted by the public camera view near the end. Up until that point in the monologue, I believe the presenter was telling the truth. One weird detail is the 2/27 date on the lost-Peter recap, while Peter’s camera and the presenter claim 2/29 aka 3/1.
@pyropulseIXXI
@pyropulseIXXI Жыл бұрын
They weren't trying to assimilate Peter; that is likely just a lie, all apart of the cover up. They probably just tossed him in the backrooms and hoped he would die, but didn't realize he would get a shotgun and make an escape attempt And they literally just killed Peter and claimed he fell and hit his head on a rock.... You are literally falling for the evil propaganda of the shadow organization and claiming they aren't that. Truly hilarious; they don't give a single ioto of a f*ck about human life; and you don't have to be cartoonishly evil for that; that is how the world works in real life

Peter actually got away, and then they hunted him down and killed him using camera footage from the city. The delayed report of him "dying on the hillside" is because of the delay in tracking him down after his escape. The whole reason for the monologue is to not make any other employee of their's aware that their lives are dispensable resources in the eyes of the company when compared with keeping secrecy.

@@castlealiens8099 From what it looks like at the short burst of images at 13:18-13:19 The first one looks to be a explosion bathing a person in green light, like that seen of the girl who fell through her garage floor and ended with the bright flash of green light. The second one appears to be what is possibly the higher ups at Async thinking up a way of trying to hide and cover up this incident with Tench. The third one appears to be a possible documentation of ALL the things Async has done in the backrooms, with what looks to be mountains of paper in it. The fourth one appears to be the same frame as the one 2 frames later, just more blurry and whited out. The fifth one appears to just be the first but with inversed colors instead. The sixth one as previously stated is the same as the third but better quality, with what seems to be a unknown person with a backpack possibly running. The seventh and eighth appear to be of the same image, with the six showing a street in what might be a city with a pedestrian on the sidewalk, with the seventh being a close up on the pedestrian, who looks to be the same person as from the fifth running away from something. From what might be concluded from these eight images spanning less then a second, it seems to be that the story of Tench being found dead from tripping and bashing his head against a rock may be false, with the team actually not being able to find him and needing a credible story to tell their working, came up with that when in actuality it seems Tench escaped to the city, finding a backpack somewhere and now is loose in society and the greater public.

as a schizophrenic myself, the descriptions of peter’s symptoms are spot on. the phrase “out of your mind” is surprisingly literal. i am somewhere else when im psychotic. its a fear you cant outrun. when im in active psychosis, i have moments of lucidity, where i realize im psychotic and my reality is warped, but then fall right back in and think im not real/my circumstances arent real. and being convinced people around you are trying to do you harm is VERY common. when im in psychosis, i find myself thinking the people closest to me are the ones who will do me the most harm, and tend to isolate myself as a result. ive also had delusions in the past where i was convinced i was already dead, and everything im experiencing is just a figment of my imagination. i feel for peter. this whole situation is so unfair to everyone. 😢

With this one episode, we put an ending to the series that gave us so much entertainment back in spring-summer 2022, I remember the hype and the joy when he posted,I remember how the whole youtube was crazy, full of his eastern eggs and the backrooms genre overall, gotta admit, the series were at its best somewhat by the time he posted the episode with the noclipped vehicle, I remember how the gen alpha kids were so afraid of it, gotta admit, the "other" backrooms we all needed because they were like a daily dose of shit and like a public enemy for Kane's fans, these animations you made back at the time had a great soundtrack, audio and everything necessary to make it feel realistic. These feelings still make me feel nostalgic (even tho these were just series, and it's been just a year and a half or something, maybe because of the environment surrounding me generally) Now I gotta thank you for the time you spent doing this for us and for the whole genre you developed to the heights we see it today, even tho, nobody cares about it, no more, tho, I guess you'll continue to make more of these horror genre videos and entertain us some more. There is a hole in the story given to the employees, at least from the info we have: Peter asked Marv, "Did they have a funeral?" This indicates to me that he was NOT cooperating with Async management on a solution to reintegrate him after he was found, as if he was he would have known about the management's actions while he was missing (8:29). They also don't provide any evidence that he escaped back into the Complex of his own will (9:44), keeping open the possibility that Ivan Beck forced him into the Complex in order to dispose of him.

The lack of any footage of him re-entering the complex is extremely suspect given we're shown every other part of the story. I'm wondering whether the Tench that attacks Marvin is actually a second doppelganger Tench somehow generated by the complex itself. This would explain why the team are surprised to see him down there and also why Tench doesn't seem to know about anything that's happened since his initial disappearance.

Ive always liked the idea that the backrooms just doesn't have any entities, that the first mono yellow room is all it is and it is infact only 600 square kilometers. The strong suit for this idea though is that YOU ARE ALONE, there is nothing out there coming for you and nothing to hurt you. However the horror should come from the fact that as humans, we will always be thinking we aren't alone while we truly are. But we would never know, that is true horror, not knowing if you're safe or not cowering between every corner you cross, hallway you pass and room you find. That is what the backrooms should of been.

What I really love about this series is that, even though the situation basically class for SCP type of information control, ASYNC still tries to be as humane as possible. Here we have a person who shot one of the co-workers and escaped the facility and when people hear that he died, the people listening to the debriefing are shocked and disturbed about Tench's whole situation. It's just a really refreshing that the secret organization is genuinely trying to be good, even when the situation makes it hard.

Well, they aren’t. The individuals are, sure. However it’s likely that he figured out they were going to kill him. It’s quite possible he’s still alive too, that phone might be him trying to call home…or he did die but the security forces killed him for the sake of ‘damage control’.

Were there suggestions yet that Async are actually a predecessors of SCP foundation - or even the founders themselves? It makes sense, especially supposing that most SCP objects actually have origins from the Backrooms. Also, nearest to the threshold areas of the Backrooms surprisingly well fit for the base and headquarters of SCP: first, it's a pretty safely contained area with only the threshold as a way out; second, the nature of the Backrooms makes it a perfect top secret base: every investigators would be looking for a huge, remoted area, like the "51" for example, or a massive underground system - but definitely not for a modest basement room in a typical commercial building.

I can’t say I blame Async for having to take careful time to “undo” the situation as far as faking Tench’s death. They’re funded by the government and when working in classified programs, they would likely cover it up as well. You can’t really say “he just disappeared” without evidence of it. From what it looks like at the short burst of images at 13:18-13:19 The first one looks to be a explosion bathing a person in green light, like that seen of the girl who fell through her garage floor and ended with the bright flash of green light. Also I swear to god, the phone ringing sound at the end is the SAME ONE FROM FNAF, I'd recognized those damned ringtones anywhere, thanks for the 2014 ptsd kane.

Yeah, I wonder what's up with the green light in particular. That's not supposed to be Peter, right? Is it...? We don't know what happened to him when he was stuck the second time, but like, this second trip didn't seem as though it really had an abnormal effect on him? Even mentally, it can all be explained away relatively easily, and he definitely didn't look like he was, I don't know, full of mold or something. If he did get caught up in the green light, and that light is actually related to the monsters' creation, then... That's... Probably uh, not the best, I reckon. I wonder if them keeping Peter around for two weeks was even true? Like, if we assume that they did throw him back in a lot earlier in order to not risk the project, prioritizing it over his life... Is this not something they'd say to cover it up, so long as they had the means to do so? Like, the select few people who talked to him aren't ever confirmed, right? And they'd probably be pretty secretive about it after he was identified regardless of how much they tried to help him. That part doesn't have something explicitly going against it like the one at the end though, so they may really have done their best, it's just unclear coming from A-Sync themselves.

The thing about all of this is just how amazingly creative it all is. Hollywood has redone different style of horror movies but we've never really had a horror series based around all the amazing and creative things you can do under the "liminal spaces" category. Sure, Hollywood has done things somewhat resembling this -- we've seen the Matrix with the backroom doors, we've seen Silent Hill, we've seen Vivarium which also had a strong liminal background but this? The thing that makes this especially creepy for me is that these backrooms feel real. What I mean by that is that when I first saw this series and I first saw these backrooms, for some reason I felt I had been there before. I have no idea how or why but that feeling was extremely strong in me.

pretty much the same as everyone else in this comment section, but the scariest part of this series is not the backrooms themselves, but how they _affect_ people like sure, getting chased by an otherworldly demon thing is scary, but it is truly unsettling and disconcerting to see people get trapped in the backrooms, try to rationalize their situation, and then slowly deteriorate into purely self-preservation instincts, until they're literally killing their friends because they can't think rationally anymore that's the real horror to me, and Kane conveys it so well

No, this is obviously the company lying. While the first part is true, the second part where Tench went insane isn’t. There is no way Tench went insane and thought the company was another level of the back room since unlike the survivors in the original series, he was only there for a few hours and has not traveled to any other level. It is clear that he is not being allowed to go outside due to the company not wanting him to leak any information, and was terminated after he reached outside.

@@skeleton819 I think what he's trying to get at is that this portrayal of the Backrooms doesn't rely on the shock value of the entities at all like several other artists do. Besides, level 0 is supposed to not even have any entities at all.

I appreciate the addition of subtitles this time. I know all these voice filters are for setting the mood but over the last several videos I was finding it increasingly difficult to understand what was actually being said, and that's from the perspective of a native English speaker. It would be MUCH much more presentable to people more interested in the story and tension-building aspects rather than the demographic waiting only for the "scary loud haha" parts. Really hope the cinema adaptation of this takes on the "A-Sync" viewpoint of the series instead of the "Found Footage" aspects. The collab with A24 has me relieved in this context.

A lot of questions answered, and a lot of theories confirmed. The armed man being Peter was made very obvious from the previous video and it's unlisted counterpart, but a lot of other stuff has been cleared up, such as how and/or why Peter ended up back inside the complex. The glitches and the phonecall at the end raise some new questions though. That security camera footage showed a man running through an urban area. Is ASync still lying about Peter? Does the needle suggest a plan to assassinate him? Or nothing more than symbolism relating to the presenter saying there is nothing more to 'extract' from the situation?

Were there suggestions yet that Async are actually a predecessors of SCP foundation - or even the founders themselves? It makes sense, especially if supposing that most SCP objects actually have origins from the Backrooms.
