Luck’s a fickle mistress, it’s been against Verstappen a lot this year and it paid him back in a big way, but he is worthy of being a champion. Ofcourse the goat will get a 8th title. But things do need to change yes, hamilton has been lucky all year without being penalized, but sooner or later your luck runs out. Like someone summerized before: - 29 Times Lewis went over track limits in Bahrain - Very convenient red flag after Lewis crashes in Imola (1 lap reset) - Redbull forced to modify their legal rear wing after Spain - Sacrificed Bottas for 2 extra points in Monaco - Max's tyre blew in Baku - Minimum pit stop time set after France - Crashed max out of Silverstone and getting the full 26 points - Bottas crashed max out in Hungary - Max denied full points in Spa, or they would not be equal going in the last race - Max punished for being driven off track in Monza - Tuned up monster engine for final few races, sacrificing Bottas again, and making use of the only 5grid penalty after the 5th engine is used - Rogue marshall in Qatar penalizing Max - Max being punished while also being run of wide and getting rear ended by Lewis - Lewis gets reprimand for driving under double yellow while Max gets a grid penalty - Favoured by stewards after cutting the corner in turn 7 in Abu Dhabi, everyone has to return the position except Lewis Even as a casual Lewis fans who loves hard and fair racing he had the luck and the help of stewards all year long while making more mistakes this years then he did previous 7/8 combined while he is at Mercedes. Its been one hell of a season, but mercedes threw it all way and Lewis knew the moment he stayed out and max pitted he knew and we all did, merc made a big strategic mistake. But to blame fia and everyone else isnt fair if you keep it logical and rational.

Thank you all for a fun season of reactions and genuine excitement. My friends aren't really into racing. Some of them do follow it, but they're not as passionate as I am. So this season I've been watching every single race with my 84 y.o. mom. XD I have to admit, though, despite being a fan of Checo's, I was worried there wasn't going to be so much he could do on those softs and that Lewis might just get by him like Verstappen gets by Bottas, but it's Checo we're talking about, the widest Red Bull, and we had possibly the best racing we've seen all season. Wasn't even the first time he's battled Hamilton like that. What a beast.

Would you still be complaining if they unlapped all the cars (e.g. the ones that had ZERO to do with the outcome of the Championship one lap earlier)? A poorly timed safety car is LUCK. It favours some and screws over others. Lewis has had many occasions where he WASN"T going to win a race and a safety car came at the perfect time for him to dive into the pits and get a free pit stop, and he won. It goes both ways.

Yh I agree that it would have been sad, but it isn’t all about Lewis and max. That’s the thing masi forgot, that for me was the worst part. Sainz could have been on for a p2, but never got the chance, and you can’t just make the rules different for the leaders because you want to see them race, that stinks of the ESL. However, let none of this take away from Max, though I don’t necessarily like all his aggression and his racing, he’s been brilliant this season, and got the rub of the green at the end there. Fair play to him, he probably deserved a title after that season

What he could and should have done is let them all overtake the sc 2nd to last lap (the track was clear), not just the ones that were "in the way" two corners before the end of sc.. we would have had a fast last lap for all of them and a fight to the end for even the last point But they were undecisive, and that is the main problem with the fia this whole season

what I still don't understand is why Masi first didn't let the lapped cars unlap themselves when the track was already cleaned and ready to go. Because in Baku there was a similar situation after the Stroll crash where lapped were allowed to unlap themselves. Eventually Masi did allow it but realistically it was too late and it shouldn't have happened anymore at that point.

How can you say that when max was given so many breaks for his poor driving and Lewis was hands down faster in the last few races. The race should have ended under safety car per the rules but as masi said “we want money”.

Everyone would have accepted "It's just luck" if Latifi had crashed 2 laps before. That way, the regs would have been followed with enough time for the lapped cars to unlap and the safety car to stay out an extra lap once those cars had gone past. That way it would have had 1-2 laps left for Max V Lewis. Max still on his fresh tyres and the results would have been the same, but FAIR and unmanipulated. ... although saying that, Mercedes would have probably pitted Hamilton if there was more of a chance that they weren't finishing under the safety car, so it could have been very different. It's such a shame they tainted this championship.

Haydon, wow, amazing words. F1 is an entertainment business after all, and the race would have been entirely different had the stewards got the correct call on lap one. I'm happy they want to finish under green at all costs, especially considering nobody's safety was actually at risk. Merc had multiple chances to be on tyres that were slightly newer. The right man won, but the way it happened is more than grey.
