I always like to disassemble a locking knife in the open position… otherwise when you unscrew the pivot and scales, you’re fighting against the pressure from the lock. Certainly with a spring mechanism this is more important (so nothing goes flying), but I think it’s a useful habit. Nice vid, noice knoife!

Captive pivot. Don’t need 2 drivers. It will move a smidge then stop, just like yours did.

That looks like it'll even work with the tanto blade... I made a set of scales out of 7075 aluminum to save weight overall (vs titanium) but now it's super blade heavy. That looks like it would fix that issue.

Very helpful video. thanks for providing this.. I recently purchased this knife in the left hand version and sorry I did. There is no scales avaliable for the left hand version.. after looking at the compression lock on the standard knife iI could have easly closed the knife with my left hand as well... Would you mind sharing the information as to what company did you get the spacer from and I really like your 1/4'' driver holder that you used to remove the scales.. thanks and look forward to your reply...

I like That Clip , I do not need anything on the locker release , But on my shawman the Nub Covers the locker release it will hurt your finger so I took it apart and removed the nub down it is out of the way now ,The shawman being Beefier i might make a part to Glue to The locker release . Thanks for The video I have Two shawman and one i customized , Both i removed that nub , it is a pain . But About The lanyard Tube i think it is because of the thicker scales ? When i Put Thicker scales on my Shawman The Bladestop pin would not go all the way through the scales, I Found a longer pin and it works well .Sometimes we have to Think of a solution .

@@NocturneKnives thank you, I haven't ordered bc I wasn't sure and I want the aluminum blast finish for the matte look. I'm not doing anything crazy with mine, trying to make it kind of classy but still a good usable knife. I got all black AWT aluminum scales, black titanium hardware and a aluminum blast Lynch clip on it right now. I want the aluminum blast backspacer from rockscale but I think I'll get the smooth one without jimping. After I get the backspacer I'm going to send it off to get either a acid rubbed finish or acid stone wash finish then I think I'll be done with this Spyderco though I have a shaman I just bought to "pimp out" next lol

Ummm, almost every screw used in knife making is ground down to the desired length. He just (I'm assuming) doesn't have the tools to make them look like they came that way. Not sure what that has to do with the backspacer, at all though.

@@NocturneKnives by no means am I skilled enough to do that. I'm extremely happy just to get the knife disassembled and assembled again. if I have to grind things down, I'm sure the knife will no longer be functional. I have to get the parts that don't need grinding.
