Backstrap loom

Portable weaving tool of pre-Hispanic origin. It is used to hand-weave panels of cloth which are used to make huipiles, various types of su’t or multipurpose cloths, ser- villetas, shirts, pants, or sashes and cintas, among others. It is easy to roll up, transport and store. The weight of the weaver’s body maintains the necessary tension in the warp for weaving.
