Backstreet Boys Howie Dorough talks Music, Real Estate Career, Aging Well, Shows Off Awards at Home

I interviewed Howie to tell a story about a major condo project he's part of in downtown Cocoa Beach, FL ( • Backstreet Boy Howie D... ).
After that news, I asked the BSB legend questions as a longtime fan.

I just found out this guy is the least popular BSB member - I really don't understand how you can hate on this guy. Humble, well-mannered, talented, and making an honest living after the height of his fame? I got nothing but respect for this man.

Being the least popular doesn't mean people hate him. It just means someone has to take this 5th place. Even as the 5th of BSB, he is way above most boy bands 1st.

Well said! Of all the guys, my main sweet spot has ALWAYS been for HowieD (Kevin next) and yes, I'll admit that after he portrayed Count Dracula, (from my all-time favorite novel), I loved him even more! You can tell when a person is genuine just by how they carry their selves and Howie definitely demonstrates that it's not hard to be an honest person. Howie is such a sweet and humble young man. Beside that he has sparkling eyes and a beautiful smile. ❤ So far as some fans not liking him. Some people just need to look for anything negative about someone because they are unhappy with themselves ( - they'd never admit it) and Howie's become their target. It is a shame. 😣

Howie's my favorite because his high harmonies add some of my favorite touches to their songs - eg All I Have To Give, Don't Wanna Lose You Now, In A World Like This, Incomplete, etc. Plus, he has a twinkling sense of humor - in interviews, he's made me burst out laughing more than anyone I can remember (except maybe Colin from Whose Line). Howie is even my favorite dancer in the group; I've also come to think of D as the secret weapon of the BSB.

I can attest that being a Florida Native like Howie, I'm 50 this past March and I don't look my age either. I attribute this to all the (sometimes AWFUL) humidity here. Being in a subtropical environment I think has been THE main factor. And we can see he takes ezcrcare of himself, thank you Mrs. D, for keeping him on track. 😁👍

@@kenchambers7137 - Actually and funny enough, because of all the INTENSE humidity here, moisturizers aren't always necessary. For example, I am now 51 and I don't even have lines across my forehead and NO major facial lines or even crowsfeet. 😀👍

I am a diehard BSB fan. If I ever run into one of the members at a Lowes, I would shake their hand and say thank you for making great music. No autographs. Or I would leave them alone. I have run into CNN’s Wolf Blitzer twice, once outside a DC bar. Made eye contact, gave him a nod, responded back, and went along my way. Howie did an MTV cribs at one of his properties in Cocoa Beach.

God bless those puerto rican (African 😉) genes. 5:30 - True, and also to because New Kids on the block was a thing for soooo long, up until BSB formed is when they’re popularity waned. I think North America, just needed a break from a boyband for a while. By 1997-98 when they blew up in the U.S, ppl were ready again. Also have to credit Hanson and Mmmbop, I remember the day that song debuted in the summer of 1997, I was 8yrs old and OBSESSED with that song....still am 🤗🤗

Howie, Sadly these days, I'm always bemoaned the fact that I missed out on you guys in the beginning and the Hey-Day, mainly bcuz like you, I am a FLORIDA NATIVE too. I'm just a couple yrs older than you and most of the guys, being born in March,1970, and even though primarily I was a "metal chick" lots of RnR, I still loved GOOD pop music, coz like you JUST SAID in this video, it's still needed out there. Actually, Kevin wasn't slept on. His fans were mainly mums! He was also named one of the most beautiful people by People magazine, and received several modelling deals outside the Backstreet Boys.
