For the curious, the key change occurs at the third chorus. And the lines are recited back to back with no commentary. Smash 35:38 - Nick 36:02 - Brian 36:26 - Howie 36:49 - AJ 37:13 - Kevin 37:38

I think this shows how complex their vocals are, their musicality and their ability to introduce musical nuances and variations. They are so talented and it's often over looked to my mind. Their overall blend and the way they play with harmonies and polyphonic melodies is phenomenal. And I think this proven by a 45 minute video to explain just one chorus of one song :o) utmost respect for the Backstreet Boys and major props to you for working so hard to break down their vocals, showcase the complexity and doing the songs justice!

God, I love this song. It always makes me wonna cry when I'm a little bit "low". BSB's tunes made by Max Martin & Denniz Pop had those catchy and amazing choruses. It would be awesome if the studio multitracks of their best songs leaked one day with separate vocal tracks... Well done, DanTheMan Bardo. I appreciate what you've beeing doing on your channel (I found it recently). Take care. Paul

The girls from ABBA would often do that trick of getting both of them to sing the high part together, which would give it a particular sound as Anni-Frid had to really go for it while Agnetha (a soprano) did it more naturally - but they both sounded great and when combined they created a special effect. So maybe that's what the producers were going after by having Kevin do the lead with the others.
@danthemanbardo4 жыл бұрын
oh interesting. I like how you know that.

@@danthemanbardo I know I'm late, but wow! Kevin is a baritone, I think. They might have also been doing that by having AJ also perform the high harmony with Howie and most likely the others too.

I think kevin doesn’t actually sing ‘now let me’ on the record and he joins in on ‘show you the shape of my heart’. Part of what makes the harms at the back end of the chorus sound so big is that they’re not there the whole time in the stack.

From watching live performances, that’s been my observation. Also someone else occasionally not singing everything if memory serves.

Kevin has a slight country twang! Where is the 2nd Chorus (back on the thing I've done, trying to play my part. . .) What Nick was doing was using the "cry technique," mixed voice.
@user-kb9cg2xq9p2 ай бұрын
To me it sounds like Kevin doing the low part you demonstrated and probably Nick doing below AJ somewhere or along with AJ. The vocal with nasal tone you mentioned sounds more like either one of them but it is very clear already AJ is taking the lead part.

no... trust me i cant. ahaha. I caught a good take that's it.. my natural voice is pretty low.
Dan I have been wondering something and you possibly might know. You know in audacity you can use the vocal remover effect to cut out the lead vocal and only hear the harminies. However with some songs or parts of songs the harmony vocal seems to be on the same vocal track as the lead therefore get cut out as well when you use the vocal removal effect. On these types of songs is there any way to isolate the harmony vocals from that and cut out the lead digitally or is that only possible if you have the unmerged tracks and or with hardware only?
@fog37766 Жыл бұрын
If you need an example of what i am talking about the backstreet boys song weve got it going on. If you use the vocal remover you cant hear the harmonies in the beginning of the song "everybody groove to the music everybody jam" But the rest of the song you can
@danthemanbardo Жыл бұрын
The problem is you can't really do that entirely. There are audio options that can try to pull things out but it will only do the best that I can it's never really that great because when they export the audio file everything is crushed together.

Where are you from, DanTheMan Bardo? You have a very nice voice (sorry for "saying" that). It's deep and well balanced. But I also noticed that when you say the words that have the "r" consonant, you say them in a specific way ("r's" are emphasized, soft, IYKWIM) :-) That's why asked about the place you were born and where you grew up. I'm from Poland, so don't blame me for my english language ;-)
