It depends on the laser power. With a 10 watt blue laser you could cause a serious damages.

I was going to say something similar. I think it’s mostly about the power of the laser, I believe even a green laser can damage a camera sensor significantly. I’ve seen videos of high powered lasers damaging cameras, even from an indirect hit from a reflection.

with a AN/SEQ-3 Laser Weapon System, you can simply blow up the whole camera.

It. Does happened. Because right now my roommate damage my eye camera v3 I have my camera at my door. He have a problem with me having one. I am the only woman here I have to look out for my safety I do mot trust anyone. I saw him shining some red lights at my camera and sneakily My phone broke I didn't have a phone since April 5 until yesterday. April 27. All my images gone. Yesterday I downloaded the apps to my new phone. All I heard was talking no events. Then the events I barely caught was in slow motions. My camera is damaged.

An infrared laser 'might' be able to do more damage, but you have more success blocking the image by using a wide angle infrared spotlight at the lens, or, slide a piece of deeply tinted glass in front of the camera, so it switches to Night Mode and bounces it's own IR light off the glass back at it's lens.

I saw this in the "Better Call Saul" series (Season 4, Episode 9's final minutes). I got curious and started researching. According to what I've learned, there are indeed very powerful lasers, and their values are around $400. Example: (Most Powerful: PL-E Pro 465nm, Power Options: 4000mW, 3500mW, or 1400mW). I haven't used them, but if it's true, such a powerful laser would almost destroy all of a camera's pixels.

I have one of them. Sadly the battery died in it. And I Cant get it out due to corrosion. It was a wonderful laser.

Just get a ball cap hat with IR buds equipped to the bill. Turn it on to block your face with interference, but it is invisible to the naked eye so nobody would know. There is a video on here with someone who built one.

What about blinding a camera with an infrared beam? Not to permanently damage but let's say set up a tripod of sorts to constantly shoot the sensor with the bright infrared beam and blind it for a while.

What people don't understand is that wireless cameras are borderline useless against criminals, it's more effort to put your shoes on than to disable one with interference.

Hello )) you doing great videos i like it them all . But I'm curious about something . What if someone had tried to damage camera with a powerful laser . This can leave any physical damage visual to camera?
@BackstreetCameras Жыл бұрын
Any laser stronger than a standard laser point could potentially damage a camera. A strong laser will damage a camera. The myth we were asked to test was "will a laser pointer damage a camera?" So that's what we used for the test...a standard laser pointer. Thanks for the post!
@baileym43ish2 жыл бұрын
what about a heat laser ?
@BackstreetCameras2 жыл бұрын
The myth was based on regular laser pointers. We have not tested a heat laser. There are powerful lasers that certainly would damage a camera, they just are not that common.

Let's get real. The vast majority of viewers watching this or caring about this are thinking about trying this with their neighbor's security cameras. And let me tell you, my neighbors have been waging a war on my security cameras overwatching our fence line. How do I know? I have all the incidental footage of them sneaking up to or surreptitiously approaching my fence line during the day then popping out behind the bushes at night with their laser and shining it at my cameras. They do not do it very long, likely because they are watching my camera through their own Ring cameras up in he eaves of their roof and her husband probably whispers down to her on her phone -- "abort! abort! abort! it is filming you!" Then she pops back down again. LOL My cameras are just fine by the way. I have about a dozen trail cameras of various capabilities all overwatching each other and covering my fence line. It drive them bonkers because they are habitual criminal trespassers and they know I will get the photo or the video that they don't want to appear in.
