The Alienist sounds intriguing, and it's one I've never heard of before! It is kind of fascinating to think about how cases were solved prior to modern technology.

I agree, it's so interesting to read about the methods they would use back then to determine certain things and inspect the scene.

Oh Dear. That can be hard sometimes. DNF and keep it moving. Don't feel bad about it. Good luck with The Lost City.

Thank you! And yes I'm just going to keep it moving because there are way too many good books out there.

I feel you on DNFs, you want to join in on the love for these books, but it's best to let go of they don't captivate you like you said. The Alienist sounds interesting! I've never heard of it. And I want to read The Lost City of Z... I always put the movies out on display at the library because we own a lot of them!

I read The Alienist a few months ago and really liked it! It was interesting to read about what the early days of criminal profiling were like. Also, NYC during that time period is so hard to imagine! Horse drawn carriages and all that lol

I'm loving how they're exploring the scenes! I'm also shocked at all of the brothels and how everyone knew about them, it's crazy lol

I couldn't get through The Left Hand of Darkness either. I hear so many good things about her and that book but I just couldn't do it.
