Curious, could the shrink tube be sliced then wrapped around the wires without have to pull it and slide it over? Thinking about doing this with my 2014 Ram but worried I might cause something to not work with the touch screen

I have not received my kit yet to read the instructions but have a question. Under the dash, did you splice the purple wire to the orange wire or swap them in the connector? Thanks for the help.

I ended up butt splicing them but it was a miserable job. Short wires and very limited from to work. Good luck! Thanks!

Have you had any trouble with the camera or the radio working? Just curious because I have had problems with mine after the camera install

It's been good. Though that wiring I had to do under the dash worries me at times.

So the guidelines? Is that a setting in the Radio? Or is there a actual wire to hook up i did the same install as you and it all works except for the guidelines

That's a setting in the radio but it has to be enabled in the BCM controls with the AlfaOBD. I think it is a check box in the list of available settings. Thanks!

@@aaronsrose I put in an aftermarket camera on my ram. Used AlfaOBD to turn it on. But I cant get the dynamic lines to work. Any thoughts? Is there different ones for this? I thought I had turned it on.

@@chrisveach2105 Do you mean like mine, where the truck was not equipped from the factory and you used the OEM kit, or was the entire kit non-OEM. FOr the OEM kit, there were several settings in the AlfaOBD that needed to be switched and then the settings for the lines appeared in the 8.4AN list. For a non-OEM camera system, I'm not sure how that would interact with the rest of the system. Thanks!

Does it have the backup warning sound?

That it does not. For that, the bumper would need to be changed and the sensors would need to be installed, wired in and activated.

Which truck do you like better ford or ram??

That's a tough one. The RAM is still pretty new so it's not needed the sheer number of things replaced like the Ford has. I'd say that the Ram is easier to work on in the engine bay. The 5.4L in the 97-03 Fords is a really tight fit. The easiest way to change the plugs is to pull the throttle body and upper intake off. Other than silly stuff like that is say maintaining them is pretty equal. Though we'll need to wait until the RAM hits 300k and I'll have a better answer. Thanks!

I just installed the OEM camera on my 2014 Ram 1500. After following directions STEP BY STEP and checking connections MANY times. I have no power to the radio. Any suggestions?

If the radio is the only thing not working, I'd start with the fuse and work towards the radio making sure no other pins were disturbed when adding the new pins into the harness. If there is power on the radio and all the pins are correct and the plugs are all seated will, I might try to find someone with a known good unit to test and see if it's the radio itself. Potentially with AlfaOBD you might try communicating with the unit and see if it's throwing a communication error or some other fault. Good luck.

@@aaronsrose I have checked radio fuse and it is still good. I have also gone over the entire install numerous times and all pins are locked in as they should be. 🤷🏻‍♂️
