Thanks so much. They're all looking in really good shape going into winter. Well done. I think I'll top up the feeders in my minis. 👍

Yes I’m happy with them. There are less bees in them compared to back in the summer but that’s to be expected. Cheers 👍

@bennybeekeeper I transferred the bees back from the commercial mini into a slightly longer mini nuc which allowed a couple more frames plus a feeder. Then I did what you suggested and shook about half a frame worth of bees from a donor hive late in the afternoon on a fine day and most of them worked their way into the underpopulated nuc. I then shared the rest of the bees from the donor frame across two other mini nucs and topped up the feeders in all nucs, plus added some pollen substitute. That was about a week ago and today they're looking pretty strong. Thanks so much for your advice. 🙏

Are they taking the liquid feed ok? I’ll be switching over to feeding fondant for the winter, mainly to reduce condensation in the hives. I’ll have a video on that coming up next weekend hopefully.

@bennybeekeeper yes they took the heavy syrup (about 2.5/1) no problems. Had a quick squiz this mng without peeling back the plastic & they look tightly clustered. It's cold and blustery today, not too many venturing out.

Nice work, but how were you able to make these cells look beautiful and are they resistant to extreme heat and cold??

Hello I am a new beekeeper.I have one question about this what is aim of this microhive.
@bennybeekeeper5 ай бұрын
It’s called a mini mating nucleus. It’s a very small colony for a new queen to live in while she gets mated and begins to lay. Then she is taken out and sold or used in a full sized hive. I’m not producing queens right now because it’s nearly winter here. I’m just trying to get these hives through winter so I can start making queens again.

No. I just hold my phone in front of my face and do a voiceover. I want to get a microphone one day
