Backyard Golf Course gets sprayed with a real sprayer!

That's right, we got hooked up with a real golf course sprayer in an attempt to get rid of late season crabgrass, goosegrass and broadleaf weeds in our Turf Type Tall fescue Backyard Fairway.

Weather conditions have been primo for weeds brother. Looks great to me. I sprayed some drive last week and it melted the crabgrass in like 2-3 days. You’ll have time to spot seed those areas if you’re that worried. No need to be. It’ll be pure

I'm hoping there is still some fescue in those bigger clumps of crab. Should know in a few days, the crabgrass is turning fast now.

Lesson learnt. Overseed in autumn/ fall and pre- emergent in spring. Have you tried ethofusemate? It's safe on rye and tall fescue but will kill poa annua

@SpudRunGolf OK. Like tenacity it works best with a second application 12-18 days later. I use etho regularly on my lawn. Which is rhizomemous tall fescue and rye mix. It will hammer kbg

I feel that concern, I had a bad clover issue that after I sprayed it just about the entire fairway went brown and it still 4 weeks later is still not fully healed from that but it looks much better.

Something you can do to cover up the dying weeds if you are really that worried about it looking bad would be spray some turf colorant/marking dye to make it look more aesthetically pleasing. The pylex will actually start basically “bleaching” the weeds and turning them bright white, because it removes the plants ability to produce chlorophyll which makes them green. Pylex is some pretty expensive stuff, but very impressive.

The mesotrione bleached some of the weeds too, but they survived after a couple of days.

I’ve had a higher than normal amount of crab and goose grass here in NC. Many of my neighbors were slammed with POA as well. You’re not doing it wrong at all.

Sounds like the crabgrass had some ideal growing conditions this year. I shoulda sprayed mine one month ago. Oh well, can't complain, we've had an awesome grass season overall.
