Welcome Gardeners! Jason has been hard at work in the backyard prepping the space for our new wood burning hot tub from Goodland! I fell in love with this tub when I first saw it at the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival, and can't wait to get ours in a burning! 🔥 Enjoy!
🔥 A HUGE thank you to Goodland for providing us with this gorgeous tub to try! All opinions are our own, but as you can see...we are very excited about it! 😉

Love having Jason a part of the team! Also, I agree with Jason on regular hot tubs. They are expensive to heat and break ALL the time. I am excited to see this wood burning one! Also, I love how you actually talk about the realities of budget and cost of projects and don’t hide or sugar coat it. It makes some of these projects attainable for those watching. Fun channel!

I agree with Jason on not wanting the expense of a hot tub. Too expensive! I love this wood burning option. You could even use it unheated during hot summer days 😎

That hot tub is a perfect solution for both of you. He's not kidding about the expense, we have a swim spa that costs us over 100. every month to keep warm. I enjoy watching Jason, he is very precise and the finished result always looks good. I think the L paver patio and walk way to the office would look fabulous!!

Thank you for using a mic on Jason! I can never hear him when he pops in for quick chats. Curiosities: if the water stays in and isn't heated, how do you regulate algae and such? Will you need to use chemicals like a regular hot tub? How much wood consumption to heat and maintain the heat and what is the cost of a cord of wood? Does your county have burn restrictions like Sac County where you can't burn on high paticulate days? Interested to hear more details, hopefully you can share when you install it.

FYI, not to burst your bubble. I want you to have your hot tub! Short story. We rented a red cedar hot tub for Father in Law's Retirement party. They brought on flatbed trailer for weekend. We had a ball. Two of us also got a pustule rash where our bathing suits rubbed up against the hot tub. Doc took a culture swab of it. It came back as a type that was found it hot tubs. An antibiotic cleared it up. If your tub is all aluminum inside then no worries. Otherwise I would do some research on skin infections do to cedar hot tubs. You did say no chemicals. So, how will you keep water clean? It looks like a nice set up and mobile too. Hope it will all work out for you guys. It's on our bucket list too.

Haha, are you sure no more big projects? Don’t forget the patio for the chicken coop . We are on phase 4 of our backyard renovation. From Adding a deck that my husband built ( track deck) , increasing the size. Adding a gazebo and building a garden wall because of our slope we have. with adding fruit trees to our yard, patio pavers, and Stone walkway. We are on phase 3 and working on phase 4. My husband says it keeps growing and he’s not referring to the plants. We have two decks one upstairs and one downstairs. Complete what you’re doing. Being in our 70s and we can still do this, we’re very blessed. So I understand what you’re doing and how you’re doing it. It takes time and energy.

I am cracking up! "Who is going to chop the wood? You have a fancy ax?" Great slogans for tshirts LOL It's wonderful having Jason on the team as he offers another perspective on a project. Question: If you extend the patio (btw it's beautiful!!) to your office entrance - won't it interfere or be cumbersome with wheelbarrows, gorilla carts, equipment when working in the garden? Super, duper job, guys!

great project! I've done this and it's so durable. good for all weather. I've used river rock, grass and fake grass and all were pet friendly and stayed in place. I've recently used the Brock system for brick patios and walkways and like that as well - good for the DIYer although it came from the construction industry. I didn't guess a hot tub, thought it would be an above ground pool of some sort but am sure you family will enjoy. This can't possibly be the last one🙂

What an amazing invention for the hot tub enthusiasts. I'm sure it was considered in the design, but water can make for slippery surfaces, and people may be tempted to reach for the smokestack for balance. The stack may be extremely hot. Would you be able to have Michael Glassman create a sleeve for the stack to prevent burns? It could match the screen. So glad Jason is having more of a speaking part in your videos besides doing the heavy chores. What a nice compromise you and he had over this hot tup subject. So very excited to see you two do your magic to this project.

Will this hot tub be usable in the summer to use as a cooling off tub where it’s not hot but warm enough to sit in and cool off in the evenings maybe with a glass of beverage 🍷🍸 without having to start a fire to heat? It will be in the hot sun for warming up. We have friends who put in regular one but it’s too expensive to heat so they don’t use it and we’re in Idaho where the cost is cheaper than California! Sounds like a great idea. Jason does beautiful work!
