So awesome. I have 100 peaches on my tree still, but only the squirrels are harvesting so far... just now turning peach colored.

Sorry to hear that, have you tried plastic owls or nets? I hear squirrels are pretty smart and will get the peaches one way or the other, they don’t have a problem chewing through nets

@@AustinTexasGardening Yea I have over 50 bagged still. I suspect it's mostly the rock squirrels getting dropped fruit. Crossing fingers. But still have a ways to go before ripening. I'm wondering if there is too much fruit. Is that a thing? Definitely had over 100 peaches originally. Down to 70-80 now maybe. Tree is huge... 12 feet tall. I planted it three years ago when it was 5 or 6 ft. Last year there were 3 peaches on the entire tree. I did something right this year.

Oh wow! 😮❤ It looks beautiful! Hmm didn't know you could get fruit on them while still short. That looks delicious. I would like a tree, but I don't want it to be too tall.

The trees that I have came from Costco and green and growing in Pflugerville, any tree that’s 5-6 feet tall will make a good start, I had a tree at my old property that was 10 feet tall and I agree, that’s a bit much

I am few houses down from you. I am on my way to pick up my share 😅 Very nice to see that your plants are doing good. Definitely have a green hand and the patience and passion to be doing this. I am sending you some neighborly admiration.

@@AustinTexasGardening actually nothing yet, I had a Golden Loquat and it died on the last freeze storm, so now I have a project of few trees in mind for next weekend: fig, pomegranate, and olive trees

Very cool, the best time to plant these trees is in the fall, but most nurseries and hardware stores sell mature fruit trees in the spring.

Time goes by so fast. 3 years later & I only had fruit once. Congrats on whatever your soil has that mine does not. I have expanded varieties.

It could be that the trees like something in my yellow clay soil, I also fertilize with 13-13-13 about four times a year so I think that’s helping

If you’re in Texas, I highly recommend peach trees, or any stone fruit like plums or apricots I’ve heard persimmons do good as well, I’ve had some success with brown turkey fig trees, but I can’t vouch for citrus or lemon trees, our winters and summers will usually take them out, if you’re a little closer to the coast or in a tropical area go for it, but here in zone9a I can’t keep lemons alive
