Ok you were a little vague and I don't know that it was mentioned, but what if water gets stuck in the system? Won't trees and shrubs find the water and fill it with roots?

What circumstances warrant the basin in the screaming demon? Wouldn't a bad seed leave less water without a basin? If one leaves less water in the pit, wouldn't you always use that? Trying to understand, thanks.

unknowledgable woman here, in California. When it rains heavy water comes off my lawn onto my patio. I got a bid from contractor to install a sump pump, 60 ft of piping, electrical for $4800 ! This seems very high....thoughts ?

Couldn't you just fix the float at the bottom position to reduce throw if you cant go deeper?

We do not want the pump to short cycle. Short cycles is what wears out a sump pump.
