Those are beautiful natural shrimps, but will they be able to survive winter and summer temperatures in your area? Also, won't the rice fish eat the shrimp babies? Still really cool and ld love to try this too!
@unso.fish.ticated14904 жыл бұрын
Yes, they'll be able to live year-round where I am. I live in a Mediterranean climate, winters don't really get below 40°F and summers generally don't get above 90°F. I'm well aware that the ricefish may eat some babies but by the time spring comes around, the moss I've added should be enough to shelter a good amount of babies. I wouldn't keep these shrimp over the winter if your water ices over in the winter but I hope you give it a try!

@@unso.fish.ticated1490 Thank you for responding. I'd love to try but rice fish aren't really found in the states (less 4 for $12 plus shipping) Plus my weather ranges from around 30F in winter and 110F in bad summers(southern California is weird) Ill mostly try in the future but I'm happy to care for my cherry shrimp for now. This is still fascinating and a beautiful arrangement for your set up, thank you for sharing.

@@jayav2877 I'm in NorCal! I know a couple guys down south keeping them, they're gonna become more available in time as more people breed them. I know you can find the more basic morphs (platinum/gold/orange/pearl) to be readily available and rather inexpensive if you want to give them a go! Medaka will do just find year-round in those temperatures, I wouldn't be able to vouch for the shrimp though. I'm glad you liked this video! I'm gonna be posting a lot more of these haha!

what do you feed the shrimps with?
@unso.fish.ticated14903 жыл бұрын
I don't specifically feed them but some medaka food always ends up at the bottom of the tub. I'll be revamping this tub soon during my move so I'll be able to assess shrimp health in a future video!

@@unso.fish.ticated1490 just curious if the shrimps are able to find their food in such a big tub.

@@leelengchuan1 They are, there's a lot of moss underwater for them to graze on!
