I have been breeding cheeries and Bloody Mary shirmp for years. Actually, they just breed themselves. I just feel like too scared to even try. I also always think about selling aquatic plants too. The amount of healthy plants I trim and throw away a week is sick. I hate having to throw so much away. I also grow plants emersed which is perfect for selling. Idk tho. @philipkugel1127 you certainly could. Neocardinia are super easy. They breed themselves. I think I bought cherry shrimp twice in my life 10 bloody Mary’s and probably a similar amount another time. Both years ago and I have tons and tons of shrimp throughout all my tanks. When I scape a new tank I take about 8-10 from another aquarium to start a new colony. They don’t even need to be fed if you have a high tech planted tank as there is so much algae and organic material. My shrimp are constantly grazing. I used to feed them but half the time they wouldn’t bother with what I’d put in and I’d have to get it out. I use veggies or those omega veggie rounds. So I just let them feed on the ecosystem. They will eat left over fish food if I have fish in the scape. Otherwise they eat everything in the tank and I have a lot always breeding and in all stages of life very bright dark red. They are happy I’d say.

Really enjoyed seeing this unexpected video on your channel! Something that I think could have been covered a bit more by Hugo, just to give a full picture to viewers who are not in the aquarium hobby - many of his high value shrimp seem to be caridina shrimp, not neocaridina, and caridina shrimp are more sensitive to water parameters and can be more difficult to keep as they have more specific water requirements. The reverse osmosis system he uses wasn't mentioned in the cost breakdown but would probably be necessary unless you are lucky to live in an area where the tap water matches caridina shrimps needs. The learning curve behind water parameters can be quite steep and if someone was to try to get straight into breeding caridina shrimp for profit without doing sufficient research they'd likely end up with a bunch of expensive dead shrimp! Shipping shrimp that are sold can also be tricky and pricy, I'm not sure if that was factored into the profits and costs discussed. I think he did cover the above a bit when he mentioned it took some time to get things up and running, just thought this info might be useful for anyone else considering this as a side hustle.

@lucawendel76442 жыл бұрын
It shouldnt be too much. Im from germany and here you just need to register a business once you generate more than a little over 500€. You also start paying taxes for your business once its registered but it shouldnt be too much at the beginning since its determined by income/profit. You gotta keep track of all the money that goes in and out and also how much of the product (shrimps in this case) you stock and sell. Some things you buy are tax free once your a business so its really worth documenting everything. You should check the website of the IRS out if you want to run a business. There you can find information on how it works exactly in the USA. If you need advice on the shrimps let me know but im no shrimp breeder, im just an aquascaper & newt breeder. I know how to grade your shrimps and keep them alive tho. My shrimps breed all year around so i guess i cant be too bad. I'd even gift you some of my blue jelly neocaridina but i sadly cant send them to the us.

I'm not an expert and mostly know marine but causing surface agitation or bubbles in the tank is oxygen exchange, which will raise the pH so he's right in saying what he did.
@ucallmeschnitzel2 жыл бұрын
@@toby3916 You are partially right. Surface exchange can increase pH. But this is not because of Oxygenation. Molecular Oxygen has no impacton pH. CO2 does. Surface agitation in most cases will remove CO2 from the water, but with just shrimp being present in it, I doubt that the CO2 production will be significant enough that surface agitation actually changes anything about the pH.
@carvedwood19532 жыл бұрын
@@ucallmeschnitzel 100% correct. Technically surface agitation has an effect but in any case you should consider that effect non existent in reality. Secondly the sponge filter does house bacteria, but so does sand and gravel. With proper substrate and plants you don't need a filter at all. It does however help remove floating particulate matter and the fact that they house bacteria can help you setup new tanks faster by using sponges from cycled tanks in brand new setups.

I don’t know where you get all these prices from but they’re way too high lol 40$ for an air pump? Is it gold plated?

That was interesting. I expected these shrimp to be saltwater but since saltwater was never mentioned I get the impression these are freshwater shrimp.

Bro breeding shrimp is easy I got 3 cherry shrimps a rare yellow one. Now I have 8-10 shrimps and some are a mix of the cherry with the yellow but I forgot the breed of that one
@FJAquatics2 жыл бұрын
He is breeding high end caridinas and you are breeding beginner neocaridinas
@abrqzx2 жыл бұрын
Cherry shrimps belong to “Neocaridina”. Those shrimps from this video are “Caridina” shrimps were more sensitive to water parameters and would die easily if not given proper care and maintenance

Yeah that's disgusting You should know better if you're a breeder or a animal owner of an aquarium don't suck on the end of a hose when you're taking water out that's disgusting and nasty Does literal easy ways you can do this like I do I just hook up my hose to my sink put the one end in the tank for my turtle and my crayfish and then I turn the water on it will start bubbling into the water and then when it stops making bubble sounds it literally is able to be disconnected from the sink and literally the water drained Don't ever put your mouth on the hose that's disgusting

those prices are not correct, or else your paying extreme overprice in the US, the most expensive ones he has go for 15-20 dollars in denmark.
