Great information. My municipality fines residents who let the grass grow too tall, so I'm keeping the front yard in compliance, but the back yard gets less grooming and no chemicals, unless invasive plants creep in. A giant oak and a fern patch that sports a saw palmetto are natural animal attractants. So far we enjoy a parade of smaller mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and a wide variety of birds every day. Glad to hear you are a part of the Subaru family. I do IT work for a multi-line dealer who's HQ is in our Subaru showroom building. Subaru does amazing work for preserving the outdoors and my mother still drives an Outback, because she feels it is the safest car made.

Awesome, I'd love to get some different wildlife. Living in town makes it more difficult (or an HOA). I've worked at the Subaru plant since 1991!

I didn't know you could do that. Wildlife is so important. With the quarantine, it's great that nature and wildlife has been able to come back. This is so cool you do this. You have a great backyard. Great information.

Thanks! Obviously, some places would be harder to it, such as in town or if your neighborhood has an HOA. But every little thing helps.

My husband and I have planted plants for wildlife food. We have a pond for water. Then, we turned a log into a bird feeder that works amazingly feeding wildlife. Our Wildlife needs all the help they can get.

I just joined the NWF last year and I've been slowly working towards getting my backyard certified. I'm hopeful that it can be done by the end of this summer. Thanks for posting this video, it's given me a few good ideas for what I can do with mine.

Very Cool , We are slowly doing the same , We live in town , but have a retention pond right across our privacy fence and we are always adding more Bird Feeders and a little on the ground for any furry friends that show up at night , which they have . It's just alot of fun to watch them in your own backyard

Thanks Mike! It would have been better, but I realized I don't have any video of the raccoons being mischievous. And frogs, we have so many grey tree frogs, but no video! 🤷♂️

This is awesome!! 💚💚 I do some of this now. We have a pool in our backyard but we don’t use it so we are giving it to someone. I have so many plans for this area once the pool is gone more bird houses, bird baths, etc. great video! I love the opossum ❤️

Sounds like a plan! I removed an old pool last year, my plan is to actually dig out a pond and do some landscaping with native plants around it, make a real frog pond. Hopefully both our plans come together!

Well, ya learn something new everyday!! I can get out of mowing if I get certified as a backyard habitat!!!

Possibly! I've heard from some people that live in town that say it's not an option for them because of HOA requirements & such, but it's all in how you do it. I think that's why the National Wildlife Federation now refers to them as "wildlife gardens."
