A tip for cutting access holes in drywall (regardless of using whatever kind of knife/saw/blade) - make your cuts at a slight angle pointing inwards. This way, when you put the cut piece back in the hole, it sits nicely, and won't fall back through and down inside the wall cavity.
@Bacrenfencing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks LS, That is a good tip. I usually just cut the top and the sides and sort of use the uncut bottom as a hinge - that way, it can be pulled back and just hangs from the wall and can easily be pushed back in place without removing it. I like your tip though, I will start to use that when doing this from now on 👍😃

I just wanted to say how much you helped me with this video. Thank you so much! It was absolutely perfect and exactly what I needed to know. I’m a older woman recently widowed and I moved into a house that needs a great deal of work, most of which I am attempting to do myself. My husband and I used to always fix up our homes together and while he was no Norm Abrams, he was well versed in using power tools. Sadly I am not and my lack of power tool knowledge has made my progress quite slow, so I decided to research the best tools to use and the multi tool was at the top of the list but to me looked like something so foreign and scary I couldn’t imagine what it could possibly do. But your video made it so very clear and concise I feel really quite confident about getting one now. Thank you for the extra steps you take in your videos for the complete novices like me who have no idea what so ever what there doing, I really appreciate it so very, very much. 😁

If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. kzbin.infoUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

Cool. Used my Dewalt 20v max tonight to replace an old drain tail pipe (thick chromed steel) on bathroom sink. It was the kind that screwed together from top and bottom and also has a nut on bottom to pull assembly down tight. It was all corroded and crusty. Popped in the fine tooth blade and cut it off just below the nut, unscrewed nut, and pulled out old assembly. The PVC replacement was about 3/4" too long, so I just used the tool again to cut about an inch off the end. I'm in love.

As a mechanic by trade I'm buying into carpentry kit for a house renovation. Great video I definitely want one because this Multi tool belongs in mechanics kit aswell! So many bolts and hidden parts I have needed to cut! With an angle grinder it's dangerous and difficult! This is perfect for many bolt cutting jobs. e.g. stubborn drop link bolts that just spin freely with nothing on the rear to counter that. Just slip this in and cut free! Brilliant tool.

The blades don't hold up well against grade 8 hardware. Tried Milwaukee carbide lasted about 20 seconds didn't make it through the bolt. Cheap harbor freight carbide blades did as well. Took a total of 7 blades to cut the heads off of two bolts. It has worked great for making new interior panels for the shuttle bus, had a few odd shapes to notch out.
@E69apeTheMatrix4202 жыл бұрын
@@craigwiess1656 I found the exact same thing! literally can't go through a standard nail and if you do then the blade is completely knackered! Some random attachments could come in handy like the sander but mostly useless for mechanics I know now after using one a lot I take back my statement. Also I keep the diamond masonry bit in my angle grinder for metal now. It's way better than the sand paper grit type! I had one break on me the last time and it skimmed my face and the other bit my hand! I felt it but came out unscathed luckily! Ive never needed the recip saw for mechanics yet but its nice to know it's there😉 multi tool kind of over rated to me at this point. Maybe it will show its worth in 2nd fix and finish work more but ime still in the rebuild process! House renovation taking ages!

I have used it to sharpen dull utility blades by holding the blade securely by pliers then making 2 angled passes from top towards the bottom per side using 240 grit paper ( I try to match original blade angles)

I will be cutting out lots of copper pipe from hot water heat system. My old carpenter used a reciprocating saw and took forever on one pipe. I have a multi purpose tool from Harbor Freight, has cord and not a Dewalt, but with your tips I think I can zip right through the copper pipes. Thanks

To be honest, the multi tool is not the best for that job as it will take too long. Best with a proper pipe cutter or reciprocating saw with a metal blade in it in my opinion. Thanks for the comment.

One of the more unusual uses I did was to spachcock a mutant sized turkey (~40lbs) at Thanksgiving. Made quick work of it, but the downside was disinfecting the tool and blade afterwards.

I bet this tool was good for that but sounds messy 😂 I used mine on Halloween for carving my daughters pumpkins, worked great ! Thanks for the comment. 👍

Thanks. Moved to a city apartment and had to give up living in a house with a proper workshop. Now I'm looking for small tools. I think this might just be the winner.

Thanks for this. I just bought one after watching your video. Can I ask what blade you would recommend for shaving wood off a sticking door?
@Bacrenfencing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, you would be best with the sanding pad attachment for that, if it is just a thin piece that needs removed. Either that or an actual wood plane which would be best for the job.

It seems this tool much useful than the angular grinder or circular saw for home users!

Excellent, practical and *lean* video. Thank you. I'm deciding whether to buy a multi-tool, so here's a question for you ... is the multi-tool good at clearing a margin of plaster off breeze blocks to set-in mesh lath prior to patching over big cracks (10mm wide or so)?
@Bacrenfencing4 ай бұрын
Yes, it would do that.

Great video! Many of your suggestions are situations that I have been in and not thought to use my multitool. Others are projects on my list that you just made easier for me.
