As an electrician that does strictly remodels this is an absolute essential tool. kzbin.infoUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI Being able to precision cut any material with a light weight tool is priceless.I upgraded to this Dewalt 20v from a competitor's 12v. The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.

a cool hack I saw a while back was where someone had attached a standard hooked stanley blade (the type you use for lino and carpet) to his multi tool so it cut on a pulling action rather than a pushing action - seemed a good idea for cutting softer/flexible materials.

Very nice I saw they were a blades for removing grout are there any blades that'll actually cut tile like ceramic tile
@Bacrenfencing3 жыл бұрын
You can use the grout removal diamond blades to cut or notch small tiles but I would not recommend it. It would take far too long. Best to stick with an actual tile cutter or angle grinder for that.
@micahned3 жыл бұрын
You could maybe cut some very soft ceramic with a diamond abrasive blade but tile definitely does not do well with vibration and trying to cut it with a multitool will be nothing but heartache. Even the best cuts won't have a clean edge which is critical. There are tools much better suited for the task. Angle grinder, snap cutter, wet saw, dry saw, tile nippers, etc.

Lance what do you mean by "do"? Carpet adhesive is stronger than the fibers on the bottom side of carpet or carpet pad so the first step will always be ripping up the carpet which leaves the glue on the floor. If you're asking if this is the best tool for removing large amounts of glue from a concrete slab then the answer is definitely no, although it could come in handy in corners or under cabinets.

They do indeed Ian but I use the Dewalt due to the quick blade change feature. This saves a lot of hassle undoing blades with an allen key as is usual on most cheaper versions. Thanks for the comment 👍

Cutting, grinding, and sanding...I count 3 operations. Also those 3 operations encompass half of what most tradesmen do all day so exactly what point are you trying to mak

Just use pipe cutter for copper pipe and pull protruding nails out with pincers.

Very true, but what if you don't have those tools to hand ? This is where the multi tool comes in to its own as it is so versatile as a stand alone tool. Thanks for the comment

multi tools are good for cutting wood in restricted and awkward places not much else most of the jobs shown could have been done just as easily and sometimes better using conventional tools ..blades with fewer tpi. would be a good thing....kind regards

Agree on cutting in restricted places. Also useful for sanding in restricted places. I think this would also be very good for removing grout. That's about the height of it though. I have a lot of tile grout to remove thinking of getting one of these.
