Yeah animation will take a long time I tried it once and i've drawn like 40 frames and its only like two seconds (I was drawing a full scene (including background) so it took 10x longer than for me to finish my normal drawing)

The song and characters come from a popular indie game series called Touhou, which is so unbelievably popular in japanese fandom spaces because the creator fully encourages fan productions. In fact, the “original” video itself is a fan remix and animation based on a level theme from one of the games. If you’re curious about the sheer volume of fan works based on this one video alone, I’m sure there’s multiple compilation videos (including ones that have 50+ videos on screen side-by-side for comparison). I say it’s burned into many peoples’ memory because we’ve seen this song and video remixed and remade so many times that the details are forever burned in our memories. Hope this helps!
