It's rare a show goes so hard, so fast dragging you into the lives of the characters. You felt how bleak and empty was their lives without a word of exposition. The visuals, voice acting, score... all on point so you felt every bit of the despair they were experiencing. Absolutely loved it...

I note in this first episode when we first see Omega doing her rounds, that the Kiner's employ a kind of Andor style of background music. It just makes it all the more unsettling. Great point about that place not breaking down Omega's spirit, she is stronger than that place and will find a way. Crosshair needs his mojo back as he has become institutionalised and accepting that here is his penitence.

I was so impressed with this episode. Not only did it fully commit to the dark tonal shift but it felt like it was directed like a live action drama rather than an animated kids' show. Everything from the camera angles to the editing to the lighting and even the music was top-notch - I got a very strong Stranger Things/Fringe vibe from this and really loved it. Jennifer Corbett needs to be put on more projects if she hasn't been already, I'd honestly love to see what she could do with some of the live action content. Maybe have her guest write/direct in Ahsoka season 2 just to give her a shot at expanding her repertoire. If they do bring Tantiss back in that storyline that'd be a perfect place to have her start

Yes Jennifer Corbett and Brad Rau have done an excellent job so far on this series, whilst Filoni is busy elsewhere. Its still a bit up and down, but when its good, its very good; and I too would like to see what they are going to do next, as like Bad Batch when TCW was still airing, I have a feeling a new animation could be announced as this series concludes.

Keisha Castle-Hughes is voice actor for Emerie Karr. She was the lead on "Whale Rider". She was also Queen Apailana in Episode III.
@anthonyyoutubefan7567
@anthonyyoutubefan7567 7 ай бұрын
Ironically, my hope, since seeing The Mandalorian (Season 3) chapter: The Foundling, is to see Ms.Castle-Hughes reprise her portrayal of Queen Apailana in both live-action and Animated flashbacks, with her being one of the key figures in the early creation of The Hidden Path. In my hopeful head canon, Jedi Master Beq rescued Grogu at the behest of Senate Representative Jar Jar Binks, donating his Naboo starship to bring Younglings to safety (back to Naboo), with Senator Padme Amidala being made aware of it, not long after; meaning, for those 48 hours Padme is on Coruscant, she's aware that Queen Apailana has created a secret operation/network to rescue marked Jedi, Padawans, and Force-users from all over the galaxy; and the two have secretly corresponded (along w/ Jar Jar) about the attack on The Jedi Temple, Order 66, the supposed betrayal of The Jedi towards The Republic, and how to go about protecting more Jedi through other sympathetic planets and individuals, along with preserving the safety and sanctity of The Delegation Of The 2000, going forward. This would further explain why Padme is so emotional when The Chancellor becomes The Emperor and The Republic becomes The Empire. I'm still hoping that, somewhere within the storytelling of The Bad Batch, there's either a depiction or mentioning of Queen Apailana being executed (by Clone Assassins/CX-1s) for harboring Jedi survivors on Naboo.

Unfortunately. I'm still curious to know exactly what George Lucas' original intentions were with an enhanced female Jango Fett clone, who, in actuality, resembled Jango's older long-lost Sister, Arla Fett. The Bad Batch was George Lucas' idea for a spin-off series, after The Clone Wars. He spoke of this idea to Dave Filoni, around the time of their making of Season 6 of The Clone Wars. I just hope Dave Filoni and his team don't have to discard Lucas' original concepts/character arcs, to rationalize the unexplainable narrative choices of The (Disney) Sequel Trilogy.

cinematography wise this might have been the best episode of a star wars series so far. show dont tell close to perfection, so much is being done using certain shots, angles, repetitive shots, subtle hints, nods, expressions, tho blood circle which is basically a clock introducing time jumps, the way they made her look way more than her "sister" after the little time jump, so much attention to detail. also, perfect pacing IMO. little words are being used but they convey so much...and this is animation. outstanding 30 minutes to me, I was actually blown away.

Never clicked faster. I thought the writing and direction in this ep in particular was absolutely brilliant. Dark, tense, bleak, dreary. We’re only 3 eps into this season, but I’m not sure that Star Wars animation has ever actually been this good, even back in Clone Wars.

Like, the characters and arcs in TCW were epic and everyone was super invested, don’t get me wrong, but the actual mechanical nitty gritty convection of storytelling (direction and writing), animation quality, and acting all rolled into one…I think this might legit be the best-made Star Wars animation content we’ve ever seen.

Rebels will always be my favourite, but that is a much more old school fun Star Wars show. Some of the Clone Wars and Bad Batch stuff here however, are incredibly downbeat - though of course a lot of that is to do with this time period where the Empire is rising.

Between our first glimpse at the wall scratches and the second, by my count, this episode seems to cover around six months, maybe a but more. Awesome episode - opening with the Imp shuttle going down and being written off by Hemlock was a fascinating, and brilliant, choice. The whole feel of it really hammered home the situation Echo (and Crosshair) are in. So glad this back, going to miss it when it ends.

@KyleKatarn, 23:48 I always thought that Palpatine was revealing his true nature when his lightning was thrown back at him, and that he used the opportunity that the Jedi presented him to explain his disfigurements. How did Palpatine hide his sickly Sith eyes and deathly look? Might he have been using the Dark Side of the Force during his time on Coruscant? There were tens of thousands of Jedi on the Coruscant and let's not forget that the Force dwells in all living things. The Jedi were high on their own successes, believing that they had completely vanquished the Sith from existence. Hiding in plain sight was easy, barely an inconvenience, as the prequels show. The Jedi seemingly dismissed unexplainable tremors in the Force, passing them off as something else and I believe Dooku's Jedi tales segments explained as much. Palpatine's inability to sense Luke in the Force echoes back to how the Jedi failed to see Palpatine two decades earlier. Palpatine, like the Jedi, was blinded by his own successes. Anyway, I just thought Palpatine always looked the way he was introduced to us way back in TESB and that he was using the Force to hide his true nature. The Dark Side of the Force allowed him to stave off death, but the Kaminoan's science was the last piece of the puzzle to actually allow him to cheat death.

Im prepared to be proven wrong, but I’m not entirely convinced that Omega’s sister is actually a clone of Jango. I think Omega asked her why she never saw her on Kamino which made me think that she might actually be an Old Spaarti clone of someone else. We only have her word right now that she and Omega are actually sisters.

0:26: That’s a fair thought for sure but I feel like it’s also been that way for quite a few shows up till now. Most average fans were like, who cares about Mandalorians? Who cares about this overhyped boba get who died so quickly in return of the Jedi? Who cares about the clones? But I feel like Lucasfilm has really been treating the niche fans. The clones have always been one of my absolute favorite things about Star Wars. It might be THE favorite thing of mine nowadays actually so when they announced batch, I felt so good because I was afraid that clone wars season 7 brought an end to major stories about the clones going forward. I’m feeling this same frustration again now since this is the final season and it’s part of the reason why I have also been sort of disappointed in the show. I wanted more clones, I want to see more of the clones fighting back instead of all the Cid missions. You can’t imagine how excited I was when I saw echo and Gregor rescuing Howzer and the fact that we got to meet a new clone like Fireball. I was with echo from the start that they should be doing more. I wanted the clone rebellion to begin in season one rather than let Kamino get destroyed. But that’s also the tragedy of the story. 😢 So yeah, batch allayed my fears that we could still get more clone stories but I get that more people may want different stories going forward.

For me Emerie is the most hate-able/villainous character in the series and is almost worse than Hemlock in how unfeeling she is, especially doing this to fellow clones. Even Hemlock at least has a motivation. Hopefully she has a redemption arc or is playing the long game ⬇️ Spoiler for episode 3 ⬇️ When she convinced them to spare Omega and Crosshair’s life, even that was only because of her worth to the project.

SPOILERS AHEAD !!! In the Legends Dark Empire comic-book series, Palpatine basically admits having used essence transfer combined with cloning to stay alive for decades, and it is even alluded to that he did have to do so BEFORE episode three, the reason being that he became so powerful in the dark side of the force, that it started to have a negative effect on his health. It was literally killing him. This was even alluded to in the prequel series (at least from my point of view) because if you look at Palpatine in episode 2: attack of the clones, he looks old, tired, covered in liver spots, and almost decrepit, while in episode three: revenge of the sith, he looked waaaay better, and much more healthier and actually younger. Another way i could see Palpatine staying alive longer, is the fact that he is mostly situated on Coruscant, home to i don't know how many billions of life-forms and their life energy he could leech off of (an ability that some Sith lords have, if i remember correctly), combined with the ancient Sith Temple (or shrine) deep beneath the Jedi Temple there.
