I think it is filmed really well. The production value is pretty good. The special effects especially with the apple were really good. I think some of the scenes were a bit confusing and awkward. Overall it had moments that built tension and the flow of the film was really good at points. I hope you keep making features. Each one of your projects keeps getting better and better.

Just watched 'Bad Bones'. Overall I think you did a very good job taking everything in to consideration. I found it an interesting and engaging story that didn't reveal itself until near the end. Something that did bug me a bit was some of the indoor lighting. The parts in the basement were very good, but in the main house it did seem a bit clinical and too bright overall - lacking atmosphere - on occasions (don't think the light coloured walls helped much). So hope you are onward and upward to your next project and thanks for making the film available to watch on here.

I liked the movie. I'm glad you made it and did it on a budget. Just a couple of plot hole type questions. She was sick before taking the cookies across the street which means she must have already been a clone. So how did she take the cookies? Why did she pass out in the yard within the property line?How did she go for a run? Who stacked the things on top of the door making it difficult for him to get out? The ending made sense to me if I understand correctly. Basically, she killed it and was free. It's odd that she didn't love him enough to bring him back like he did for her and then bleach up an apple or rabbit or something and then both leave. Again, I did like it. Just lots of what seems like plot holes.

She was sick in the beginning, which is why she passed out. She spoke of her suffering. She could move about freely and accepted her eventual death. However, when she died, her husband could not accept the loss, so he cloned her. After that, she could no longer leave the property and she no longer felt sick. She did not bring her husband back because she accepted the reality of death. She accepted her own death and makes herself up beautifully to leave the property, which is fatal for her, and to join her husband in the afterlife.

(Also posted on Letterboxd) 3.5/5 Well done Scott to you and your team on this film! I've been watching you a fair few years and this is a real achievement!! Firstly here is my constructive feedback: -I felt the relationship Jen of and Russ could have been a little more intimate as the downfall would have been more impactful. -I think there could have been a little more establishment of Jens condition also earlier too. -I felt there were too many fades sometimes in terms of editing. Now on to postive stuff: - I like the bold concept of the film and this is accompanied by really good effects and I would love you to do a breakdown on how you did them as they were really good. -Some really lovely lighting and cinematography aided by a brilliant soundtrack. -The pacing was decent and picked up really well towards the middle-end. Overall a great effort in low budget indie filmmaking and I am looking forward to your next effort. All the best - Anton

I'm not crititc that matters but I've been a horror buff of all sorts since I was like 10. It's like watching Picasso paint or Bach write a symphony. Books too. All the different styles, feelings, characters. It's easy to make people cry or laugh. But to be afraid, disgusted, to be pulled into a story that can change at any moment. The options are endless and it's a beautiful fucking ride.. I love it but I'm hard headed when it comes to low budget. The cringe is hard. This my sir, was very well done. The cinematography was beautiful, I mean truly. Acting wasn't cliché it felt real. Give them my bravo if you willl. Thank you. There are a lot of unanswered questions. Although our natural reaction is "what the fuck just happened?" sometimes it works regardless. This is one of those moments for me. I'm very intrigued and very eager to see more. Thank you for allowing us to have the opportunity to watch for free with the option to donate. Job well done.

*SPOILERS AHEAD* Dear frugalfilmmaker, This was a most interesting film. I did have a bit of a time following the timeline a bit. I’ll need to rewatch it, but please help me understand a few things. When the man removes the plastic from the ground in the first behind-the-wall scene, a brief close-up of an old listing of Elements shows the element Azote, which was an early Greek listing for Nitrogen. I did some research and Azote, from the Greek, means, essentially, “no life.” Of course, Nitrogen is found in the DNA 🧬 molecule, and Azote was an early listing, along with another synonym, “dephlogistonification,” which I surmised derives from the old word “phlogiston,” which was early scientific nomenclature for “life force,” if memory serves me correct. The last scene, where Jen-or pseudo-Jen as the case may be-drags her husband down into the crawlspace, and injects his body with what I assume to be Bleach(?), then watches as his body is enveloped and consumed by the ground. Above., after screwing down the crawlspace trap door, Jen is seen applying makeup, and then walking into the living room, where she collapses amid groaning and creaking noises, ostensibly from the death throes of Whatever is living under the house and is giving rise to the “resurrection” phenomena. We assume the death of Whatever will now allow Jen to drive away without exploding into a dissolvable mass of liquid putrefaction, thanks to Whatever imbibing the dead-husband-bleach mixture. Is that about right? Also, what aspects of alchemy factor into this film, if any. Seeing only the brief listing of elements alludes to more than a passing interest with elements-in-general, and leads one to the husband-cum-writer possessing knowledge, or at least an allusion, to Ancient Alchemy. I would be delighted with a response. The tension was palpable to me right up until the end, and the “left with more questions” motif was used well here. I was certainly rooting for Jen to be able to get out of there. Thank you for a pleasant film that makes one think-and research-a bit. I’ll be back for another round. Sincerely, TheFirefishe

The wife shown in this movie is perfect. Supportive loving affectionate dutiful but with a mind of her own. She is proud of her husband being a writer.All writers need such mature life partners because writing is very difficult. Writers are brave imaginative but they need emotional support of their wives or girlfriend Women can help male writers because women have a sixth sense.

Is there a way to get the plot points? Like... an explanation for those that have watched the movie? Bc we got to the end and there's absolutely no rules at that point. They just do whatever they want and live I guess? How do the clones die but the originals don't? Or they do? Plus he experimented with the apples wrong in the first place, he didn't leave one out for control was the first mistake and then there.... theres just so much that could've been explained with just a LITTLE better writing. It was a little too slow for me considering there's no ending.
@hollyperrin7353
@hollyperrin7353 Ай бұрын
In the beginning, they weren’t clones. When she dies (and we see her skeleton later in the basement), he clones her. She no longer feels sick, but she cannot leave the property without dying. She decides not to clone him when he dies, but she uses his corpse to try to kill the clone-maker. Then, she resigns herself to her own death and drives off to meet her husband in the afterlife.

Great movie! Reminded me of a German novel ("Die Damalstür", roughly: "The Then-Door") where the protagonists walk through a door and find themselves 10 years back in time. Thus, they can start again and avoid the quite wellmistakes they made. Little problem: Their versions of that time are also present and need to be dealt with... For this one here: Awesome! But I would have hoped for a differnt ending. The neighbour seemed to manage this situation. Maybe Russ and his wife could have, too?

This movie was pretty good. The audio work was for sure low budget. Some of the shots and color seemed great then some seemed low budget. Like some shots were too long and could have been shorter and made the same point. The story line could have been a bit more clear but I still understood what was happening. The females acting wasn’t that great and the guys acting was a bit better. A big thing for me was how did that slow push into a wall take Russ out???? All in all for a low budget full length film I would give this a 7 out of 10 Great job crew!

Confused the lady never left her yard either. How ever, she stated at least we're alive. Is this the neighborhood each house?

I noticed too... I think she knew what was going on and probably experienced same thing with Jennifer too. It's kinda confusing tho

Spoilers ahead.... I really wanted to like the movie because I've been a Frugal Filmmaker fan for years. But Bad Bones just doesn't make any sense. It seems like a short story plot stretched out to feature length just so it could be called feature length. The acting was...annoying, especially when it came to the character Russ. The actor's constant mugging was so distracting. The only character I liked was the neighbor! How did Russ know to do his apple experiment? It was alluded to that he knew about the paranormal aspect of the house before they moved in, but who was left to tell anybody about it? How does a house get sold with no inspection discovering the remains of the previous owners (bones) strewn around the crawlspace? Russ and his wife go for a run early on in the movie. But how, if they can't leave the property line? Was this restriction only in place after the cloning? When Russ discovered the disappearing apple trick, why didn't he set up a camera to catch what was happening? Technically, it's very well shot, very good scene choices, sound was great. The story just wasn't there completely. The couples scenes ("Remember when we kissed in tge rain on our wedding day?" Ugh!) There are just so many things that don't make sense, or are unanswered. I think with some editing and maybe some reshoots to clarify plot points, the movie may fare better. Sent also via email. I understand you don't want to discuss plot points in the comment section.

It's a shame we couldn't get bigger and better torches But the funniest part is. I ave already watched it. But my alzhmers never let's me remember till I almost half way in. Then I have to try and watch what I can't see because it's soo dark just I can remember the end. Till the next time I see it. Let's hope I don't loose my sense of humour when the rest is fully gone. 🤣🙂

OK. They had controlling husbands and they wouldn't let them leave the house, made out she had cancer, but where those tablets for cancer. She kills him, put in basement. Then I'm not sure if she got herself back or allowed the entity to take over But the bottom line. She was not being controlled by him and was now free. Even if if was an entity I got more out of it this time. But still could be very wrong However. On a small budget. Good job. Love from Australia 🙂
