I've got the Maverick. Mow 7 hilly acres. Put a spring seat base on it. I also made a wheelie bar for the hitch using 2 deck wheels and a 12 inch draw bar attached to the optional receiver hitch. It's saved my bacon 4 times already. Twice on hills and twice catching tree branches with the ROPS. This mower cuts my mowing time in half. When I get into the high grass 2 ft+ while clearing trails between trees it's a beast.

Strange, I just also purchased the Maverick HD 60" Kawasaki mower to go along with my MZ magnum 54"(only 42 hrs). I really like my MZ just wanted a better seat and 6 more inches of cutting width. I really think the seat alone was worth the upgrade, no problems with the Kohler engine on the MZ just wanted a Kawasaki. I really appreciate your video. I thought man that looks like my neck of the woods. Yup. I'm on the north face of Olympic Peninsula near Sequim. I'm 70 and tired of getting beat up every week on my Cub Cadet LT46 mower. Last time left me lame for 10 days with either a pulled muscle or aggravated disk. Time for a better machine. Leitz is the BB dealer here and had about decided on the Maverick HD 52 with Kawasaki. But then saw the Grasshopper front mount 52 on Town and Country. Maverick seems like the deal for your property, mine is 2.5 acres - sloped in 2 directions - 30 year old grass and lots of potholes and bone-jarring ruts from years of runoff and soil sluffing. Wondering if the Grasshopper is more for a flat smooth yard compared to the Maverick? You can get a glimpse of my yard to the north in the video Deer vs Tree Cage. Any thoughts before I pull the trigger? Again, thanks. Jack in Sequim
@HomesteadBandwagon6 ай бұрын
I work at Town and Country- how's that for coincidence? I've tested Grasshoppers on the property, and can definitely say that the Bad Boy mid mount has a much softer ride. The Grasshopper front mount rides great, though. Longer wheel base eats up a lot of bumps!
@ilblues6 ай бұрын
@@HomesteadBandwagon Softer ride is 98% of the decision. The remaining 2% is the beer holder. Thanks! Grasshopper is intriguing - but getting it serviced here might be a problem. Gonna need a wheelie-bar though or counter weights.

@@HomesteadBandwagon I'm looking forward to it; got the HD 60 in Kawasaki; delivery is Friday. Might be overkill for 1.75 - 2.0 acres - but it's a commitment to living here until they carry me out. And if I have to pay a kid to drive it - I'm sure there would be more takers on a great machine. Also added a receiver hitch and one of those assist bars for getting on and off of it. I was truly shocked at the strength and stability of the deck when I stepped on and off of it. I'm 6' and 300# and it didn't budge. Will probably add the dual LED light option and advanced chute system.

How does the Maverick HD do on hills? Compared to say a Hustler Fast Track?
@HomesteadBandwagon Жыл бұрын
I was pretty impressed with its hill performance. It had no problem sticking to hillsides, stopping, starting, etc. If you're going full speed and trying to make a downhill turn, gravity certainly would drag the front end a bit, but it recovered well. The only problem i had was making sudden uphill turns at full speed. The machine has so much snap and power that it could pop the front wheels off the ground if a person wasn't being careful

Looks exactly like my first day, getting stuck and pulling it out with the tractor, then thinking I ran out of fuel. If you have any more problems with it quitting running, make sure the vacuum hoses going to the charcoal canister aren't kinked, mine was kinked right at the battery. It will act like it's out of gas then when you remove the gas cap it will lose the built up vacuum in the tanks and run again for awhile. Drove me crazy the first few days.

@@Deuce_Allan the honda is firstly, a honda. Did yours come with an owners manual? I just got mine yesterday and the dealer said, no manuals come with. He also said the 2 fuel tanks have a selector valve. I find nothing of the sort. Does the fuel transfere on its own from one tank to the next? Thanks for the info.
@HomesteadBandwagon Жыл бұрын
The machines ship from the factory with an operator's manual and a little reference booklet for the engine. There is a petcock to shut off the fuel, but the one we tried didn't have a tank selector. The hoses from both tanks meet at the fuel shutoff and then join into one hose that goes to the pump, filter and carb
@grantparnes Жыл бұрын
@@HomesteadBandwagon Thank you for the info. I will have to get my hands on some paperwork. I bought the unit from a dealer and they delivered it to my house without me being there. NO PAPERWORK, not even a receipt for the purchase. They did however, mow about 1/2 my front yard with what I would call a joy ride before parking it in my garage. Very weird. The delivery driver, brought a friend along, and the friend jumped on the mower and started playing is what the dealer told me. Cameras all over house got it all on video.

@@HomesteadBandwagon Here's another one for you. Jumped on the mower this afternoon, mowed about 3 minutes and it died. Cranks, no start. Fuel gauge exactly like your, about 1/2. I text the dealer (on a sunday) he says switch the fuel valve to the right tank. What fuel valve? That valve is ON/OFF, not left tank right tank. I bought 5 gallons of gas and added to the right tank, which had zero fuel in it, and it finally started. Would have been nice to know, both tanks need fuel, or it won't run. I assume it was sucking air out of the right side. I did 14 years of wear and tear on the starter, on a machine with .4 hours on it. That to me is a design flaw. I would rather have 1, 5 gallon tank, than 2 where one could be full and the other 1/8 of a gallon and your basically out of fuel.
