something that always puzzled me was (snoop, dre, and nate dogg) saying in a couple documentaries that they had no beef yet they noticeably dissed the crowd and rappers through out the night in defense to the disrespect of the crowd booing and sitting throughout their performances. Yet after Tupac sided with them and went at Bad Boy, they all turned their backs and said it was a tupac/biggie issue. Many holes in the stories, many rappers turned their backs on eachother.

@trell1694 I'm quite certain Speakerboxx/Love Below was a diamond record and I would say that other albums such as 2Pac Greatest Hits, Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem Show, Mc Hammer, Lauryn Hill/Fugees have sold more than 10million in the states. Outkast has sold about 6 million but since it's really a double record it's counted as 12 million total.
@Kingjd8715 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on everything except the last sentecne. Illmatic was just as if not more influential than Ready To Die. Don't believe me just listen to Jay's first album (Reasonable Doubt). It got Nas written all over it.

@TheHazcam different cloth. 2Pac was pure work ethic, nowhere near as lyrically talented as a Biggie or Nas but he was raw. He was a thinker, a leader, someone who would inspire and motivate. The dude had plans and was more than just a rapper. It's a shame both passed because they had way more to offer, especially BIG. Pac had heaps of records worked on when he died and BIG had next to nothing. You can't compare Ready To Die with Pac's first 2 albums. Ready to Die is an alltime classic.
@TheHazcam14 жыл бұрын
@trell1694 You do realise that the soundscan and RIAA certifications are for albums shipped NOT those sold in retail. Plus they tend to fade away the tracking for these albums after a couple of years. Life After Death was definately certified diamond by RIAA but there's no official # of actual record sales. All Eyez on Me had been 9x platinum just over 2 years (1998) after it's release and after that it wasn't tracked. I can assure you that in the last 12 years it's sold more than 1 million..

I remember watching this. In the beginning, the death row artists performed and the Bad Boy artists cheered for them and danced along. Biggie won and said that Warren G deserved the award over him. As the night went on, the NY presenters started to cop attitudes whenever a California artist won and the tension started to roll off of the audience. This was 100% the presenters fault.

@unbornak47 Nielsen sound scan says Eminem's record sales are 31,127,000. These are from US, UK, and CAN. Websites claim he also went platinum in 62 times in countries other than these, the amount to get platinum is lower in these countries. US platinum is 1,000,000 and the highest platinum amount of the other countries is Japan which is 250,000 which would mean he would have 15,500,000 MAX outside UK, CAN, and UK. which would be 46,627,000 add in recovery and its 50,000,000 MAX.

@TheHazcam On a side note, an I love Biggie as a story teller and bump his shit to this day. But Bad Boy was trailing Death Row all the way. Pac advised him to make commercial tracks for Ready To Die to help sales. Pac makes a double album in Feb '96 with songs like Cali Love. Big decides to make a double album with tracks like "Going back to Cali" only 8 months after (it got pushed back from Halloween 1996). I don't think Life After would've sold 10-11 mill if he was alive during it's tenure
