So much of this driving really surprises me. I've had the impression from road safety statistics that Swedish drivers are quite disciplined. They are of course but some of this driving is almost Italian and the excessive speed drivers are worthy of Russian car crash videos. The discourtesy is on par with most places in the US - that's not a complement! One question. Some of the pavement seems almost red in color. Is that an optical illusion or is some of the pavement actually red? Great video! Cheers :)

Luckily These Are some pretty extreme situations. And I guess Stockholm is a bit worse than the rest of Sweden since it's the most densely populated area in the country. Yep, red pavement is actually pretty common, especially on highways where there is a lot of heavy traffic. It's supposed to be more durable than ordinary pavement. Thanks!

If the speed limit is 70 km/h (43 mph) or lower it is allowed to use whichever lane is the most appropriate for your destination and to overtake on either side. In any other case overtaking must be done to the left and only the rightmost lane may be used (unless overtaking). Some states in the US has this as well.

Road Watcher Sweden Same here, except it is a keep right law that does not specify undertaking as illegal. Since more often than not the keep right law is not followed, it is forced

***** In Sweden, this would be considered illegal unless the speed limit is 70 km/h or lower. The car hogging the left lane would also be at fault. The punishment for undertaking is harsher than hogging the left lanes.

That Avalanche pickup that sped up (Chevrolet) is a typical American driver. And that Mercedes taxi at the end.....how did his car not get more messed up? I love watching dumb driver videos, and I particularly love foreign countries just to see all the different things. I noticed from some of your videos that you appear to be in a Mercedes Sprinter, likely a cargo van. How do you do it every day, driving around a city with narrow streets in a long vehicle like a Sprinter and not go crazy because of all the stupid drivers?

Haha maybe it was? :P The truck driver reacted quickly and stopped before the taxi got squished, lucky for him. Yep, it's a Mercedes Sprinter box truck. I'm just happy my regular delivery "districts" are in the suburbs and not that often in the city centre, then I probably would go crazy! I guess you get used to it.

@5:31 like what the f**k and btw the faulty turning indicators are one of the most common faults in a Volvo V70 (they are often blinking that way when there's a lot of moisture and then they "break" but might be working after 5 minutes like normal :-D).

Man ska aldrig lita på andra bilister och framförallt inte taxichaufförer.. Med det sagt så hade det gått att undvika en krock i de sista klippet.. Det är helt åt helvete av taxichauffören, missförstå mig inte :)

The law says nothing explicitly about overtaking like that but I think most people agree that it isn't an acceptable manoeuvre. All the normal rules for overtaking applies.

5:14 and 8:06 are complete dicks. I just don't understand why some people behave like that. Was it just me or was there something not right with the colour in this video? Great video and stay safe :) Also, if I were a police officer I'd want to be one in Sweden so I could drive XC70s all day haha

"it is illegal to undertake..." should be "it is illegal to overtake' on the other hand, not a mistake. It is common that people go slow in the fast lane and sleep behind the wheel, when you overtake them in the slow lane they usually "wake up" and realize they are in the wrong lane. Nothing you can do about that. You should post contact information and try to get others to send you dash cam videos so you can post them here in the channel :D Also dash cams are not illegal any more, as the supreme court has ruled on that issue.

I drive up bihind them and flashes my highbeam and than indigate left right left right to show them that i want them to move. it allways worked for me :)

Yeah I know, you do anything you can, but sometimes the only thing that does work is when you overtake on the inside and honk the horn !

I do drive behind and flash my lights sometimes, but usually I'm too lazy and just pass them to the right ;) Yeah I might have to do that if a lot people want to send clips! Now they usually send a pm with a link Finally some clarety with the law! It was legal before too just more of a gray zone
