I agree Andrew, it's definitely obtainable. In 1978 Tom Ogle created a filter device that enabled his 1970 427 V8 Ford Galaxy to achieve 100 MPG @60 MPH. This device would inject gasoline vapors into the cylinder instead of liquid fuel. They called his vehicle the "Oglemobile". Look up "Tom Ogle Carb".

I just bought a 2016 Toyota corolla and have been experiencing very bad gas mileage. I did discover the gas cap was loose a couple of days ago (even after they inspected everything and had it go through the diagnostics for a 2nd time). A light was on for a few days but it eventually shut off. lol Maybe it was about the loose gas cap. I tightened the gas cap and I'm hoping this will solve the crappy gas mileage. Not liking the sound of others getting the bad gas mileage with their Toyota.

Can bad or damaged ignition coils cause bad gas mileage? I am getting code scan codes P0351 thru P0354. Visual inspection of the coils looked fine and no cracks. I normally get 300-320 miles on a full tank of gas which was averaging 19-22 miles per gallon. I am now only getting 13-16 miles per gallon and a 190-210 miles on a full tank of gas. The most common issue with the is220d is a sooted up EGR valve. Cleaning the valve if sooted up will definitely help mpg. Dirty air filter wouldn't be #2 . #3 Dirty injectors. #4 Clogged catalytic converter, you'll notice a clogged catalytic converter by poor acceleration.

I have Honda Civic 2012 and it recently started this problem: The "Range" meter in the front dash board shows distance traveled of 12 KM when in fact the GPS shows the real deistance is 6 KM. I can get this information (traveled distance) by substracting the Destination Point reading (from Range indicator) from the Starting point reading. The question is: why my Honda Range Indicator says that the distance traveled is 12 KM when the actual distance travelled is 6 KM? Also, Why my Gas tank now a days is draining like crazy? Have anyone had this problem? Where do I find answer without paying hundreds of dollars to Honda dealer or car repair shops? This is really a big problem for many of us.
@Nthefastlane2 жыл бұрын
Judging by your post I believe your vehicle is from Canada possibly? Anyhow, I would start first by checking your fuses. There's been reports of a "backup fuse" blowing causing travel distance issues. The backup fuse is located in the fuse box under the hood by the engine on the 2012 Honda Civic. If you don't find any issues with the fuses I would disconnect your battery for about 30 minutes. Make sure you have your security codes for your radio.

@@Nthefastlane What those security code are for? Are they for Key Fob? Where do I get them from? Thank you for your advise. Yes I got this car from Ontario Canada.

Hey! I drive 2010 Acura RL (110K miles) mostly in the city and Acura's MPG is up to 16. I see my car get about 14.5. When I once through some highway driving into the mix for a short time, then I got 15.6. Spark plugs were replaced last year, brakes and timing belt too. Transmission fluid is clean, diff and transfer case maintained as well and engine oil replaced recently. I drive conservatively and don't run AC all the time while driving. Oh and I don't carry anything in the trunk expect for spare tire and a jack. I use premium gas as required. The tires are Michelin Pilot sport A/S 3 and still have more than half of tread with correct 32F and 30R PSI. 1) I personally think to increase pressure to 35F and 33R PSI just to see is it helps. 2) I also thought of using a good quality fuel system cleaner that has PEA (Gumout or Redline). 3) MAF sensor can possibly be cleaned, although there is no indication that car needs it. Maybe you can recommend something that can help? I used to have a compact car which did 25.6 in the city.

People, you don't have to ever buy new spark plugs ever!!! EVER!!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS BUY SMALL BOTTLE OF Muriatic Acid and just soak the spark plugs in it for about five minutes. Then take a tooth brush and brush the Plugs tips with soap and water!!! Until all of the carbon is off. The blow them out with compressed air!!! Or just with your breath!!! You may have to do this a second time untill all of the carbon is off the electrode and tip of the spark plugs!!! Also on your air breather filter. All you have to do is take an air hose and blow it clean!!! Also if you look at the air filter you will see the stuff in the air filter is very small dust!!! Blow it out and take I sharp knife and put a several two inch slits in it!!! That way the engine will for sure get enough air and will save you a lot of gas!!! The very fine dust that may get through will have very little if any efect!!! Because this air goes through the engine at over a hundred miles an hour or faster and not only that when the air and fuel mixture ignites it's has a tremendous explosion with tempatures of a thousands of degrees!!! Which will burn the dust up in a heart beat!!! And then out onto the exhaust pipes!! With know harm to the engine!! Larry Again spend the money on your kid,!!! You will never have to buy another air filter!!! Now there is an expectation!!! If you are regularly driving on dirt roads you must buy a new air filter.. as you can see while driving the streets and freeways there is very minimal dust!!! Have a great time with you family! Larry

@@larryneiderhiser148 Larry Neiderhiser first off you say never have to buy spark plugs again due to soaking them in murriatic acid. Givin this is a great method tried true n tested but after a good long while the electrodes start breaking apart and getting smaller in length and skinner making it far less effective. Ever changed factory 1998 plugs in 2010? Wish I had before and after pics. Then on to the neeext one! Cut slits in your air filter because the dust particles are to fine to hurt anything? Ever visited the desert for a weekend of off roading in the dunes? Iv seen some carnage happen to intakes of multiple types of motors due to having cheap knock off air filters that didn't have any slits in them. If on a carb fed dual barrel set up in anywhere but a desert I could see you being right but that fine dust you were mentioning, silt.. Fine dirt particles they won't hurt for a long time but just because it don't hurt much now does not mean it won't later. That silt won't burn off when it hits intake its going to get stuck as a sludge right inside the carb plugging up jets n all sorts of fun shit and the bit that does make it past inside the motor will just be dryed by the heat (not burned off) then it's free to work its way right in between your cylinder and the bore scraping up and down at scratching the cylinder walls to unlil it starts to lose compression.
@larryneiderhiser1485 жыл бұрын
@@a-ron4286 Did you read my COMPLETE comment??? Naturally if the electrodes burn away you would have to replace the plugs!!! But I have a set of plugs in my car that has over two hundred and fifty miles on them and the electrodes look perfect!!! So why spend the money if they are working perfectly!!! And on the air filter. I said if you are running up and down dirt roads it would be a good idea to keep your air filter cleans out and then replaced at regular intervals!!! I also said if you are running around town on city streets and freeways you don't need to réplace your air filter!!! Just keep it blown óut!!! Please reread what I said and start saving money!!!
