I bought the Microkorg 2 and love it!!!!! It's so fun to play and jam on. It's so simple since it's all clearly laid out on the screen, the menu diving is minimal, and color coding / visuals make it so easy to sound design (I've had a digitone for years and basically gave up trying to sound design on that thing). IMO the whole point of hardware synths is that they are more fun to play than a DAW. Also, with enough FX pedals, you can't tell one synth apart from another anyway. I think this thing should be compared more to like the original Teenage Engineering OP-1. Not the best sound, but fun and portable-ish.

I actually think this is pretty cool. Played one at perfect circuit one day and forgot that was even released now. Also, they have patches based off KK Slider from Animal Crossing and Dire Dire Docks from Mario 64 on this synth, which is pretty cool that korg acknowledges the gamers in their fanbase (considering they had david wise from rareware show off a korg wavestate patch inspired by starfox adventures on their channel).

i just got my unit a week ago like a day after recording dire, dire docks to find that a replica of that original patch is onboard as a preset. unfortunately, the polyphony count holds it back because i can't even play the tune for which that patch was made using a pedal lmao. but i never owned the original and the metallic white looks sexy. it is also the best feeling minikey keybed i've ever played on. aftertouch and a sequencer would've greatly elevated it. also, roland lootboxes sound amazing and especially imagine if they contained sound packs or unlockable synth engines 😆

@BeyondTyrants2 күн бұрын
I got the OG the month it came out as my first hard synth and made quite a bit of music with it over the course of twenty years before I eventually sold it because there's only so many ways you can change the sounds on it. The 2nd one fixes that and then some. It doesn't take long before you've got a preset sounding completely original. The genre wheel is just as weird now as it was back in 2002, but I think they kept it around as a throwback to the quirky charm of the original. But there's also worse ways to navigate sound banks too! And I love the improvements made to the vocoder! Half the reason I got the OG was for the vocoder so this is a big deal for me. It cannot be stated enough how much better this one is. The perfectly capable looper is an unexpected but very welcomed addition to the live performance capabilities of this beast. There's not that many synths out there with loopers. The Yamaha Reface CS comes to mind and I'd definitely rather have the microKorg 2 instead. As far as the filter goes, it's got the sort of squelch that acid house is known for. I'm pairing it with the Behringer RD-6 and TD-3 for that reason. I'll gladly admit that I got this mk2 purely out of personal bias. I don't know if I would recommend this synth to everyone. There's some really strong competition in this price range.

I like the Sound from the new Microkorg more, because of its more digitalish Sounds compare to the old, because i have enough typical VA,subtractive Synths like Prologue16,AL-1(Oasys), Dreadbox Typhoon. Envelopes too sloopy but this does not mean too slow, auf deutsch "zu steil". The Arpegiator is not a simple Arper because in the Modmatrix you can modulate Arp Parameters like, Arp Type,Octave,Steps and so on from different Sources. You can modulate Effectparameters from, LFOs,Env,Velocity,KBDtracking and Modwheel. And the Engine is not the same as in the Kingkorg. If you want Moogsound then buy a Moog.

Seems like a capable little keyboard. Might "only" have 8 voices but that seems plenty for the kind of stuff it's designed to do. Granted, an instrument like this has to compete with the infinitely more versatile realm of software instruments that do the same things, but honestly the same can be said for _all_ hardware synths to an extent so I wouldn't consider it a factor. Still, I already have a setup that's built around multiple more specialized and far more tweakable instruments, so it'd be tricky to fit a generalist "do it all" keyboard into to my lineup.

The UI-the screen plus the right side-seems well done from all the demos I've seen.
