I admire the how he's just going up the c-scale on the keyboard for the bass, and up the chromatic scale for the synth lead, with the actual notes being MIDI-mapped under the hood. It's an elegant solution if keyboard isn't really your instrument.

Yeah, I always found it strange actually. He does know how to play, and these short loops wouldn’t be hard for him to remember. Although it seems to play harmonies as well, so when he presses one key it’s mapped to multiple

@@brodyoliverbassett7579 exactly. What first clued me in to that was his live version Shape of You when he was getting full marimba polyphonies when hitting just one key. I wonder if the Novation keyboard he using has that capability, or if he's using something like Bome MIDI Translator under the hood...

I love how Ed has gone so far in his usage of multiple channels for looping that he's gotten to the point where his techs need to handle some of the channels because he just doesn't have enough feet and speed to handle all of them 😂😂😂

This gives me headache as a loop player though. Really got me frustrated. Like, I'd love to learn this song and emulate his playing, but then what can I do if the hardware doesn't even support this 😫 This is why I don't really like playing Bad Habits. Because I feel like however hard I try and practice, it'll be impossible to play it as close as possible 😩
@blakesaupe129 Жыл бұрын
@HenrysGuitarLog I can understand that. But you have to remember that his looper is exclusively made just for him and they don’t actually sell the one he uses. So you’ll never truly be able to emulate the sound. But I’ve learned to just find a way to work around it and find a solution. It can be frustrating.

@@HenrysGuitarLog he just released his own line of loopers, and i believe the looper X can handle this song

Watching carefully, I *think* you can get away without having a tech operating channel 5 if you have the following: Long press on any of the track buttons selects that track exclusively. Double tap on any track (possibly just on 'Boom' starts that track *and* Keys). It's certainly something that's well within the capabilities of Mobius Looper, which is what's running Chewie II.
@brodyoliverbassett7579 Жыл бұрын
True, I’m sure they could find some way of doing it. Although I believe that Chewie II ran a custom python software that was no longer based on Mobius, as it would often fail with the Chewie Monsta, which did use Mobius.

What should I do if I want a loop station steup most similar to ed sheeran's chewie 2 loop station?
@maxhorn5684 Жыл бұрын
Look at the Headrush looperboard, I bought one recently and absolutely do not regret it. It is probably the looper pedal most similar to the Chewie that is accesible to buy.
@MechanicalMarketer253 Жыл бұрын
I’m going to recommend the Boss RC 600. If you have a foot switch and know how to set it up, you can get prettymuch the same control scheme as Ed here. Quite a bit cheaper than the Headrush IIRC.
@PiersCawley Жыл бұрын
Chewie II's a controller for Mobius Looper, which is windows software that kind of got stuck on 32 bit mode, but which has recently been picked up by new maintainers, so it probably runs better on modern windows these days. If you're happy with something like an iPad, Loopy Pro is definitely capable of running something like this too.

Hey quick question, do you know what bank means?
@brodyoliverbassett75797 ай бұрын
Hey, Ed’s pedal has 8 Tracks, but only 4 are visible at a time, Bank switches from tracks 1-4 to tracks 5-8, although in this song he only uses Tracks 1,2,3,4 and 5.
