He can lie to Skyler pretty convincingly if he planned it out like he did here with Hank. Most of the time when he gets caught it's because he's either put on the spot or because his lie is so ridiculously unbelievable that Skyler couldn't possibly fall for it.

Vilhax that’s an incredibly stupid way of seeing it. you can see throughout the show that despite everything that happens, they both care for each other very much. walt even offers 80 million dollars just to save hank’s life...and hank is truly heartbroken and has no idea how to react when he realizes that walt is heisenberg. it’s clear to see that he cares for walt and walt cares for him. this show wouldn’t be nearly as good as it is if the characters didn’t have such strong bonds like this.

I love how Walt is playing on Hank’s emotional incapabilities. It’s the same with every “touchey feeley” situation. He deflects and tries to escape. Just like when Marie had that issue with shoplifting. He didn’t know how to deal with it and tried to hide the situation.Walt knows talking about his emotions would make Hank uncomfortable and he played on that to get him out the room for a brief moment. Also Hank at this moment was top dog in the DEA, he probably wouldn’t want to be seen being vulnerable so he then closed the blinds, giving Walt and him privacy to talk about personal discrepancies. This is probably an obvious conclusion I’m making here but it’s still so fascinating seeing this level of detail, especially for a moment like this where the situation isn’t extremely critical.

The fact that Hank gives him coffee is symbolism for him turning a blind eye against Walt and giving him inadvertent warmth and protection Hank opening the door is symbolism for him walking into the truth about Heisenberg when it's in his own obvious view (DEA office) Hank patting his shoulder on the right means that he gave Heisenberg an inadvertent go ahead to pursue criminal acts while keeping an eye on him, the five fingers touching him means 5 senses that he has on Hank at all times. Yellow in the show is used to represent Walt’s criminal activities, hence why we see Gus wearing it most of the time. Marie wears purple since out of the four main characters she is the one most far removed of Walt’s true career, but by placing the bug in her picture frame she now becomes tainted by it

1:04 Season 1 Walter would have just been satisfied with this line from Hank. Walter back then only needed to be acknowledged by his family as a great provider and an inspirational role model. Unfortunately, these weren’t enough for the ego driven season 5 Walter.

I love the character building in this scene. Walt is being extremely manipulative and cold blooded here but is also aware of how he's harming his family and doing evil. Hank tries to support him but is not able to at all; his words aren't very reassuring and the best he can do is try to bring Walt a coffee.

When I saw this scene for the first time I had an insane 10 minutes long laughing fit. The way obviously uncomfortable Hank immediately panicked when Walt started to cry, turned blinds on window and then openly ran away was just so friggin hilarious. His reactions to emotional situations always crack me up but this one was the best.

Damn! That’s some 3D-level chess there! Walt knew that Hank would be uncomfortable with the conversation and leave the room for a few minutes. The only problem is that any network support guy would notice that device on the Ethernet cable, and ask what it is. If it were smaller, the network support guy MIGHT assume it’s an adapter, but not something that big - especially where network security is REALLY important (like the DEA).

They do Physical Network sweeps periodically and not everyday. Walt and his crew only wanted quick surveillance to be able to know if hank knew about one of the barrels being tagged. The Network Admins wouldn’t notice nothing unless they were right next to that rig.

Giving Hank and Marie a son in the show could have added some depth. They could have done a plot where his son was also working in the DEA at its lower levels and maybe working his way through college, obviously far more successful than Walt Jr. could ever hope to be, playing into Walt's insecurities. Then, maybe Hank's son gets killed by the cartel through an indirect action by Walt, like the 737 plot, and his son's death leads Hank down the path to investigating Heisenberg. Maybe Skyler also finds out that Walt had something to do with it, and tries to leave far earlier than Ozymandias. It could've been very interesting.
