At the time of this song, Paraziții (pronounced Pa-ra-zee-tzee) were having a long-term feud with the Romanian Audio-Visual Council (CNA), who were forbidding their videos on radio and television. Bad Joke and many other songs on the same album had a directed message against censorship, the members of CNA, and the music industry in general for promoting artists who were not singing live and were primarily showing off their bodies instead of their voices.

Paraziții means the parasites. The ț is pronounced like ts, the r is an alveolar flap, unlike the English alveolar approximant, and the double i at the end is pronounced as a normal i. The last i comes from the masculine plural definite article, that's why it is translated with the ( 'the' being a definite article in English ). If it weren't for the last i, it would mean parasites and it would be pronounced by not pronouncing the i at the end and palatalizing the ț.
