Love the problem solving team effort. Unusual set up, but y’all aced it in very unpleasant conditions. Another job well done.

When I worked for the pump company we had an assortment of Dresser couplings because we did some pressure type piping. That is where I learned about Dresser couplings and that came in handy at my house when I had a pipe nipple go bad and no union near it. I hate plumbing and a Dresser was a quick easy fix, no plumber needed. Sure was a nasty windy day for you to be outside working. At least you were able to have the mill turning and proving it was making water. Take care and see you again soon, jack

Thank you Jack! Yep some places we frequent are like that all the time, constant wind. Yep you have to be able to fix things on the fly sometimes, so ya got to pull out what you know works best!!!

When future work is not taken into account, the 'poor' repair person is left 'holding the bag'. Is that rubber coupling rated for sunlight resistance? If not, you will most likely be repairing this again and soon.

Well done. 1) I didn't hear you describe why the pipe nipple was leaking (sucker rod wear?) - or what you did to alleviate the problem; 2) I've been wondering how much inventory (plumbing, pump parts, windmill parts) you carry. Or do you just pack a few things specific to each job? 3) Does the top end of the standpipe remain open so the sucker rod can move freely? 4) Thanks for THINKING about using a harness, even if you don't! But please don't start a FF while descending the ladder -- I thought you were falling....LOL.
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
Hahaha you aren’t the first person to think I was about to fall!!! Sorry! Lol A hole in the threads was why not was leaking. The customer called me and told me what it would take to fix it. They had originally plumbed that part, so they knew it was a 6” nipple. I try to carry things that tend to be more problematic. 😃

@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын

@randywilson68692 ай бұрын
Can you show us a sucker rod? Is it just a tube or is it solid because when u want a different size I saw you thread one. A sucker rod in the oilfield you can’t do that. They make 2 foot 4 foot
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
Sure can! So we use either steel or fiberglass. They’re both solid. And both 21’ long. Fiberglass is 5/8 diameter and steel is 7/16.
@johnfrantz68282 ай бұрын
Wonder what kind of head pressure that pump makes to get the water into the elevated tank??
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
Plenty! This is actually a deep well pump and can lift 1000 ft. The only real limit is the pipe. With steel pipe, that would be 433 psi! This well is only lifting roughly 40’.😀
@johnfrantz68282 ай бұрын
@@OkieWindmiller that's amazing no wonder it was shooting out of the cracked pipe so far (aside from the wind)
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
Yep! But, this was probably only about 16’ tall, so was probably only 8 or so psi where it was coming out.
@randywilson68692 ай бұрын
