Another property transformed! Had so much fun on this one. Could have spent the entire day there as the driveway was in ROUGH shape. I'll probably go back and see what more I can do - but definitely got it to a better place.

Just wanted to update everyone on this house. As of June/ July 2024 this house is currently being renovated. It looks really good so far. The railings have been replaced new cement driveway has been installed among other improvements.

Grass clippings in the grass is good for the grass. It doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing but the clippings provide free mulch for the grass.

Me too. So many of these lawn videos just leave clumps of grass on the lawn and mow over, leaving a dirty look. I know the dirt eventually goes into the grass but your time and skill leave a cleaner finish. Great job for the neighborhood plus leaves this sweet home happy again.

I was so, so happy to see that you went the extra mile and gathered also the trash on the yard as so many other goodwill yard makeover channels just mow over them and leave it. I'm impressed with your work that you clean up everything but there is one thing I know, you say it's just the woods but that timber can become fire hazardous on hot extra dry days months, I just pray the woods in Michigan doesn't get dry and too hot like I've seen California, Colorado and Texas does, it's gotten hot and dry enough here in Nebraska that it caused wild fires and burned some homes, out of control fire is scary

I was half expecting the cop to say, "you do realize you are in the hood, right?" When I lived in Denver, Colo. in the late 90s / early 2000s in the Capital Hill area, there was a stretch of Colfax Ave. near me that was so riddled with muggings, assaults and the like that if a cop saw somebody walking in this neighborhood (particularly at night) they would stop and ask them if they knew they were in the hood.

People like to think "What's the point?" when it comes to doing public services for free. "It's just going to grow back." But listen to how grateful that sheriff sounded. It improved his day. He'll tell the owner of the property and they'll tell others. Everyone will be in a better mood and it might inspire them to do something similar. Everyone's life is made better by one simple act of kindness.

plus if a property looks taken care of, its less likely to be broken into or less likely to be used as a dumping ground, I' ve noticed if there is trash dumped and it stays, people tend to think its ok to dump more there

Glad to hear Oakland County didn't hassle you. I'm former law enforcement (Washtenaw County Sheriff) and initially thought to myself "what, they don't have any bad guys to catch?". Years ago, when we were shopping for our first house, we saw a listing for a cute house with a big yard for a good price in a very nice neighborhood and asked our real estate agent to see it. When we got there, we had to wade through waist-high grass, and burdocks to get to the front door. I'm sure that was a big part of the reason other people had passed it by before we were able to look past the weeds and see the potential.
