@@JohnClarkMatthews I came to this video to say just about the same thing (Your stop motion videos dont allow comments because are labelled by KZbin as "KZbin Kids".) Lol I am now a legal adult and I still enjoy your stop motion videos. I was searching all over the internet for these films but always had no luck in finding them. Finally I found them! They are so nostalgic and bring back lots of memories. I remember we had the VHS of most if not all the stop motion films and I frequently asked to watch them. Unfortunately, I think my mom threw out all the vhs tapes, along with this one. I will have to check the crawl space. Your stop motion films are definitely something I'd love to show my future children. Thank you for your hard work! You are very talented!

@@JohnClarkMatthews Also, I think your Curious George Stop Motion may have influenced my taste in classical music at an early age. Rondo Alla Turca is one of my favorites, and it was in your stop action during the fireman scene. I always had a feeling that I heard it in one of your stop motion films, but couldnt confirm it until now

Have long been writing a feature-length adaptation of MOUSE AND THE MOTORCYCLE, having been a fan of the book since childhood (which I read because of the great Weekend Special I saw when I was really young). Thank you for the great memories. Still a big fan of Stop-Motion Animation, and much of it's thanks to masters like you.

Thank you for the kind words. Did you know that Beverly Cleary (the author) is still alive? She’s 104 years old! Many years ago she wrote a movie script for us named “Stout Hearted Ralph”. Unfortunately it never got made. But Ralph the Mouse did get Stuart Little made. Here’s an article you might find interesting about that adventure. voyagela.com/interview/meet-john-clark-matthews-cedar-glen/

@@JohnClarkMatthews I DID know that (which is amazing; hope she, you and most are staying safe during this time). I loved the specials and the books growing up (the original book is the biggest reason why I continue to be such a bookworm). Right before I graduated High School, I actually started writing another M&M book called THE MOUSE, THE MOTORCYCLE AND THE HAUNTED HOTEL. It starts a little sad (Matt's gone, though it's never explained whether he died or retired), but Ralph becomes friends with the new manager and his twin daughters (inspired by my little sisters, who were about six or seven when I was writing this, though they never got into books as much as me), and after hearing the hotel's going to be demolished, he plots a plan with the twins into starting rumors there's ghosts in the hotel (spurred by Ralph wailing loudly as he rides both his sports car and a new motorcycle the twins give him). Always thought that was good karma that you ended up working on STUART LITTLE (though I thought the sequel was better; odd that the first movie was more an original story and the sequel was the actual book).

Wow! I’m 15 now, which isn’t that old but I remember frog & toad in first grade. I came across Little Baby Mambo about 2-3 years ago, and just now remembered it, and looked through your channel and I had absolutely no idea that you made Frog & Toad! Love your work, it’s awesome, and brings back memories lol when I was in first grade. 😊 😂

I’ve been watching Frog and Toad for most of my life and i was wondering if you have the sheet music for the song “Frogs Dreams” it would be awesome but thank you for everything

I assume you mean Toad's solo piano piece. Sorry to say I don't. If you go to the end of this interview, you can see me playing it live - and there's the sheet music on the piano. Dang! johnclarkmatthews.com/watch-nickelodeon.php

John Clark Matthews when and why the modern day scenes in Stanley and the Dinosaurs were cut out ?
@JohnClarkMatthews4 жыл бұрын
The actual Stanley movie didn't have the modern scenes. They were added to make it long enough for ABC to run.

How come you never made any stop-motion animations for “Frog and Toad All Year” or “Days with Frog and Toad”, like you did for the first two books?

I wanted to do the rest of the F&T books but the market wouldn't bear it at that time. I came very close to a TV series when I was at Sony Pictures, but the heirs of the property weren't interested. Too bad!
