@@AfricaTwin-Stuff I have had the same problem but mine is also associated with increased arthritis in legs etc. However not wanting to give up chose to keep on two wheels. I bought a scooter. Its a 300 cc Honda Forza from 2013 and only cost about £2.000. Since then I have done some 10.000 miles in the last 4 years. My riding mate has subsequently bought the same so we both ride Forza's and he is 89 years of age. Nice going and wish myself to be as active at that age. as I am a mere baby of 74 yrs.

@@davidmatthews3093 Ditto for me! I went from litre bikes and big touring bikes to the 500X and love it. The lack of 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds (on high performance bikes) keeps me out of trouble and makes me realize that patience on the road can save your life. Do we need all that power and complexity? Before 1970 most bikes ridden were around 500CC of less, especially in Europe. When Honda came out with the CB750, I thought, man what a huge machine! Who needs all that power? I bought a nine year old NC750X a few months ago and I may not have done so were it not for your videos. You videos gave me the confidence to know that I should be able to deal with most any maintenance item that comes along. I'm retired and have had a number of different motorcycles over the decades. This is the first one I've purchased for the express purpose of going on the highway. I've had sport bikes, motorcross bikes, enduros, scooters, minimotos and a supermoto. I live in Edmonton, Alberta in the heart of the Canadian Prairies and I plan to do some highway miles in ever increasing radii. With the NC750X I'll be able to build a set of requirements for my highway progression. Maybe the NC will be the best fit or maybe not. It doesn't matter one way or the other as I've put on 2700 km and have already determined that highway trips are for me. The NC purchase has been a grand success but it may be replaced within the following year. Funny thing about the NC: with moderate growing mileage it won't depreciate very much at all between year nine and ten of it's existence. I know I'll be drawing on your inventory of videos for some required maintenance over our winter months. Thanks so much for your content creation and best of luck on your riding career.

Yes. There were only two things I didn’t particularly like about the NC - the slightly cramped riding position and the suspension. The AT certainly sorts that out.

You're not alone mate, Im 69 and sold my CVO Harley springer, and bought a Harley street glide special. Much more computerised controls, a much heavier bike, but it puts a smile on my face.

Im so sorry to hear about your disability. I too have the same illness (at an earlier age than you) - at 59 years old I inexplicably and for no logical reason went and bought a 40 year old Harley Davidson sportster to add to my existing Africa Twin. I still cant believe it, and neither can any of my family.

Excellent. Us disabled people need to stick together.

Well, not every bike is a forever bike. Congrats, she's a beauty and a favourite for AU. I can't fault your decision really. You got in before I did. Looks like I'll be continuing on the sub to learn more. I'm looking for a 2020+ AS (probably DCT) also. Not sure about the ES yet but sticker price might be more at play at that end of the scale.
@AfricaTwin-Stuff8 ай бұрын
Agree ES wasn’t on my priority list but the bike had it so … and so far I’m very impressed. Also think 2020+ is the way to go. The DCT smarts were updated significantly.

It was big relief to know that you've not given up riding and that I am not alone: I have a much earlier onset of the same condition. I part exchanged my 100% trouble free, 100% powerful enough, 100% frugal , 100% practical 2016 NC 750X for a Triumph Scrambler 1200 that I will use mostly for commuting at an average speed of 16mph in central London like I did on the NC. Did the transaction just before winter too. Go figure. Congrats on the new bike, I rode it (minus dct) on a honda experience day and that did no favour to the NC when I returned to it. Looking forward to your watching your tongue in cheek accounts of how you're getting on with the bike.

Congrats on the new bike. The out takes were hilarious. Can relate as it is not easy talking in front of the camera.

Don't feel too bad! I've done the same as you, but did it TWICE!!! First I traded in my absolutely terrific Honda CB900 Hornet (an iridescent red one) for a bloody god-awful Honda Silverwing 600 scooter. Why would anybody do that. I'm retired and the Hornet was used for some around town runs but mainly for Wednesday Ulysses rides around the SE of NSW and for three to five day light touring over the southern half of NSW and lots of Victoria. What a great bike. The second time I had traded the Silverwing in on a Kawasaki Vulcan VN900 Custom (sparkly blue with mag wheels - what a great looking bike). The Kawasaki was THE BEST BIKE I'VE EVER OWNED. I did much the same riding as the Hornet and the Silverwing but I did it with much more style. This is where my "trade in" syndrome became much worse than yours - I swapped the lovely big blue Kawasaki for a bloody Honda Forza 300 scooter! You will think me crazy, and I can only agree. What I'd give to have that Kawasaki back again! Enjoy your Africa Twin and to make you feel good about your purchase - I think you made a mistake. The NC was probably one of the best bikes Honda ever made and was totally under appreciated by the market. Stay upright! Peter

Ha! Thanks Peter. What a journey you are having. As for the NC, I’ll still be seeing it as I sold it to a good mate who rides with us.

Congratulations on adding a new model. This disease is a disease that all motorcyclists get. ^^; I am a rider who rides NC750x in Korea. I received a lot of help from the video you posted. I clicked on the video because I was surprised, but I'm relieved that it's a congratulatory video Please show us a lot of good videos in the future. (The way he talks is awkward because it's a translator ^^)

Congratulations on your newly purchased bike Adrian, I run the DCT version of the NC, you’ll soon wonder why you ever had to ride with a gear change. I’ve really enjoyed your videos and will continue to in the future. Well done mate and keep up the good work. You are forgiven 😊

You might as well you can’t ride an African Twin when you kick the bucket ,so you might as well take the opportunity to own one & ride it whilst you still can . 👍

I have an NC750x DCT as well, but I miss the clutch and the low speed control it gives.
