This may not be the case, and I of course can’t speak for Colleen, but for me it’s so easy to fixate on one part of myself. Those are my experiences with ocd and adhd (which I have for different reasons than her). But she may have something similar going on? I feel like mental health is very complicated, and so are people. Remember there are a lot of parts of her life we don’t see. 💗

It’s also so easy for feelings of insecurity and life frustrations to come out sideways, ie self deprecation or criticism. Quarantining has been so hard on everyone - which can make feelings extra heavy and for those feelings to come out much stronger than normal. I do agree that it’s sometimes hard for me to watch, and I think that’s because it’s hard to see someone I care about hurting. I think it’s gotta be hard to keep it real under a lot of eyes, ya know? 💗

@@sindee9018 Yeah, I totally sympathize with her. I also have ADHD and OCD and it affects me in a pretty similar way. But (and maybe this is a hot take) I think this is why we have video editors. I feel like it would be healthy (for both Colleen and her young impressionable audience) if she cut out the parts where she’s in a mental health spiral. That isn’t to say that she shouldn’t be open about her struggles, but it can be harmful to see symptoms without at least first saying “I’m doing this because it’s a symptom of a mental health problem I’m dealing with + it isn’t good behavior you should emulate” I know that was a lot but ya feel??

I’m a former hairdresser and actually think they look pretty good. They are the perfect length, if they were longer you’d have to trim them constantly. It’s stringy because you didn’t use enough hair, you touching them will make them dirty and more stringy looking.

Yes! I learned these things when I had bangs through experience. You always want to touch them because they are new and they “don’t look right” but you just gotta style them and then chill.

I just hope people realize that saying “omg Colleen we love your bangs, you’re so beautiful!” doesn’t necessarily solve the problem because the problem isn’t that she’s not getting enough compliments, it’s just that she fixates on the few negative comments and doesn’t stop thinking about them. It’s common with OCD to hyper fixate on bad things and obsess over them, so it’s totally understandable that she is obsessed with her bangs and what Gen Z and people in general think about her. Instead of telling her that she’s a bad influence or leaving a compliment thinking it’s going to make her feel better, try to empathize with her and at least educate yourself on the matter instead of being so quick to judge. Colleen, I know you have talked openly about your mental health, and I just wanna say your feelings are valid! I just hope you are able to talk to someone like a therapist about these feelings, because I think they will be more helpful than any KZbin or TikTok comment.

I suffer with pretty severe OCD and while my obsessive thoughts and behaviors differ from yours, I understand the feeling of obsessing over something and not being able to stop thinking about it even though you want to stop thinking about it. And i know how frustrating and unhelpful it is when people try to talk about OCD as if you can somehow turn it on and off at will, as if having it is a choice or something lol. I think people just need to listen to other people who talk about their obstacles or trials with mental health instead of just writing them off as “needing validation” and not considering their thoughts and experiences. Either way, I just hope you know your feelings are all valid and we are here to support you through this! 😊

To everyone not understanding why she is so obsessed and insecure about this change: it's her anxiety talking. It was really similar when she had her hair cut for Waitress, which means her hair is an important part of her self esteem and that's why she can't get over it.

the situation with everest is actually really upsetting, if you want to look into it further. so many people climb now that there end up being traffic jams to the summit that lead to MORE people dying, and the amount of waste left on the mountain is eroding it. not to mention the people who live there have basically no choice but to become guides for the money and risk their lives. people who've lost body parts due to frostbite say it wasn't worth it, not to mention the family members left alone when someone does die. everest tourism really needs to stop. edit: it's also worth mentioning that the mountain is of serious spiritual importance to the natives... and now it's being trashed by tourists.

For those of you who are annoyed with Colleen’s obsession with her bangs and her negativity about her appearance....gentle reminder that she has OCD, and sometimes this is what OCD looks like. She has to look at her face all day every day for her job and that is SO hard for someone who has body-focused OCD triggers. Try giving her a little slack and let her process the change in the safe space these vlogs are for her. Colleen, if you’re reading this, 1) I love you and the authentic self you bring to this channel, even when that authentic self deals with insecurity and intrusive thoughts. 2) If your negative feelings about your appearance persists, a good therapist will have some tips for hacking your brain and getting you out of these thought spirals. Hopefully you’ll be able to find one (I know you’ve had shitty luck) and you can work through it.

I have the same exact hair type and I cut bangs recently too. It is a pain to straighten everyday but to help with the ‘thinness’ or ‘stringiness’ of them put in some hair wax to make it chunkier and wispier looking. They do look great on you actually. Give it time and you’ll like them. If not you can always clip them up with Bobby pins to make a cute hair bump look🤷🏼‍♀️
