Great video! Even though you are making lite and comedy out of all the constant questions you had been asked over and over again, I can see how you just want to be respected for what you stand for in the here and now.

I see a series of stupid questions that are no ones business. I for one loved the answers. Its treating the askers like the child they ask to be treated by asking such stupid questions.

Calpernia: Thanks for the SUPER video! It is very effective because 1) it presents the topic with humor rather than as a rant and 2) you describe WHY the question is offensive. Keep up the great work!

I would just love to give praise to this video, rather than just trolling. Calpernia, you are incredible! I love that you made this video because, well people are incredibly insensitive and do not think before speaking. In any case, I adore you and respect the answers you gave to why these questions shouldn't be asked.

it's a good thing you addressed those questions which would bother in fact not just transsexuals but just anybody regardless of their sexuality. I really appreciate it that you made the efforts to talk on behalf of those who might have felt insecure or frustrated by those questions. I really loved your approach.

Are those moments when one does not understand being insulted that make the difference. The longer lasts the smile of one who listen, the finer is the talent of one who insults. Leaving aside the uncomfortable reasons for making a video like that, I have to say that you made me laugh heartily. Great job!

Thank you for posting

Calpernia, Wow, God Bless you. The bio film of your love and tragedy was very powerful. I hope it opens a lot of people's eyes. Secondly, you covered most of the ground of what not to ask you, great/funny job!! But, I'm sure questions about the film would annoy you, too. Like, did it reeeally happen like that? or were you reeeally in love?, etc, etc. Is the A&E coverage of the story available on DVD?

And usually when people ask if surgery hurt, they are referring to the period after the actual procedure, the recovery period, where the anesthesia no longer blocks the sodium channels in the intramembrane space, preventing nerve impulses we know as the sensation of pain. Then the severe trauma of the surgical procedure can be felt as pain. A procedure such as mutilating the male reproductive organ with its numerous nerve endings would hurt severely.

I don't have any problem answering most of these questions, and I'm transsexual. Perhaps it does come down to how much privacy you need/want in your life. I often find it amusing to discuss my private personal stuff even with complete strangers. I don't think the questions themselves are bad either, but depends on who asks them and for what reasons. But then it's the people who are bad and not the words. Not everyone knows if they're being offensive or not when asking someone a question though. Although I can imagine that as a famous person other people might care less about your integrity/personal space and generally be more rude, but I'm not famous so I can only imagine.

that's hardly what i'd consider an error. in the film, which is what she is referring to, he is portrayed as a straight yuppie. in context of the "i saw (such and such film) and i think transexuals etc.", it makes perfect sense.

There should be more people like Calpernia Adams in this world! Too much straight, normal people=boring, not that great or fun, may lead to crimes. More different, open minded, non-original people=fun, exciting, adventurous, smart, knowledgeable, knows alot of what's going on in the world. I have alot of friends who are different in race, color, gender, and sex, they are all human to me, heck even my dog and cat is my best friend.

My question is: How was your day, ma'am? Frankly, even though someone may have questions, that doesn't mean they've got the right to poke around in your life, or any one else's. There are forums they can find these answers to their questions, ways to correct their misinformation, without intruding on another's life, with as much right to privacy as anyone else. So any question that isn't the same sort of question you'd ask any other person, I agree - it should be kept to themselves
