When I first heard this song in the early 90's I incorrectly thought that line said "The good leave soon, go bust some heads" ❌🤣

I crashed my car into a snow bank on a dirt road and it seemed fitting that this song and my friend had some marijuana!! Before cellphone time!! Haha!

When I was a freshman in Highschool, my frienfs and I started a band. At the time we were really into skating, surfing, snow boarding was just beginning to get popular on a small scale (1986-1987). We listened to L A Hardcore and San Francisco Thrash Metal (Metalica, Venom, etc) and also Slayer, Celtic Frost and all that kind of stuff. At the time we were not good enough to do justice to certain bands like Metallica Megadeth, Slayer and we stuck to easier stuff like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, DRI, GBH and we covered this song. I ho eatly have not head it in 33-35 years. Now that i have been playing daily for 38 years, the stuff I play today is far more sophisticated than this kind of stuff. A couple of things surprised me about this song. If the and slowed it a bit, had a better recording and really played it well (including tighter vocals, with more mature delivery, groove and in perfect key this could be a popular radio song (more interesting imo than a lot of the poseur pop punk that we all know have had huge commercial success over the past 25 years. Hell Black Flag and Circle Jerks had some great songs that with polish and maturity could be classic rock tunes, given that all classic rock has a particular sub genre (or should I say many classic rock tunes have created rock sub genres). Hard Blues Rock including Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, etc , Van Halen, Iron Butterfly, Judas Priest Rootsy Blues, Gospel and Country Rock like Elvis, the Rolling Stones, Fleeywood Mac with Peter Green, Mountain, The Black Crowes, SRV Prog rock like Rush, Yes, Floyd, Queen, the Doors, The Grateful Dead, we can even put The Beatles here because in Addition to writing the template for lotaof early classic Rock, they also got very experimental fusing lots of musical styles from Blues Rock of Chuck Berry, to folk of Dylan, to pop of Roy Orbison, to psychadelia, British folk, Celtic (as dis the Who and Zeppelin. Folk of Dylan, PPand M, Joan Baez, Mamas and Papas Glam Rock like Bowie, T Rex, Mott the Hoople, Punk Rock like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones, Link Ray, There is so much different classic rock bur unfortunately, some of the underground hardcore never really developed enough in terms of solid production value and the writers could write but never really got their chops up to speed w5gich they really could gave and should have. That was always the problem with punk rock and Hardcore. The bands were so busy being rebels which creat5wd this attitude that being a musical musician was uncool. The whole focus on be shitty in order to keep the ideology pure is kind of ridiculous. You can do your own thing and do it well. There is no point in slacking off on practice. A lot of vreat songs (in terms of concept, never became great because the creative minds never put all the pieces together. Look at the Clash. They are not Les Zeppelin or Rush, bur they qere all solid musically and their songs got heard by millions because they took the next step. Surf Rock like Dick Dale The Ventures, Hank Marvin Southern Rock like Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws

Wasn't there a Beatle's song by the same name? I mean they're both really great; I don't feel like they are in competition.

This album is worse than i remember. These guys thiught Punk was ciming to an end, so they thought theyd get ahead of it and try something different. It failed horribly. They only performed it once and the reaction was so bad they never played any songs from it again. They only played a few shows for the next coupke years until they decided to get together and make a proper album, "Back to the known"
