I was at their concert yesterday and when the whistle part at the end came up, the singer did it in kind of an opera voice. Then she stopped for a second before the last high note. in that moment of silence you could hear someone from the crowd sing it perfectly. Everyone was in shock and the singer asked if she could do it again. Absolutely jaw dropping. I can't wait to see them again

Mai Yenish ballet is NOT the foundation of tap so its not really required. it would help though. ballet is not really important unless youre doing a dance style that came from ballet, like modern, contemporary, lyrical, or broadway jazz. tap does not need ballet, neither does hiphop, african dance, dancehall, vogue, popping, or indian classical. yes she should practice on 1920’s dance steps, which would improve her improvisation, but tap does not need ballet. tap dancing was invented by black people on the street not by white people in a studio where they spend hundreds of dollars for lessons. tap used to be 100% improvisation and self expression, so there really wasn’t a “correct” way to do it.

Okay, PMJ's videos are always good. But this one is just off the charts great. The whistling is so outstandingly good. And the tapping is a masterclass in timing, light, shade and playfulness. Watch everyone's face in the background, if you can take your eyes off the dancer tearing it up. They were having some wicked fun doing that performance.
