would this solenoid affect downshifting? My 2000 Ranger after sitting for 6 months of no use started not shifting to the passing gear. Regular up and downshifting is smooth but when i put the pedal to the metal the tranny will not shift to the passing gear. The trans fluid is clear and clean. I've never changed the filter. Is there an additive I could put in to help flush deposits prior to changing the filter and fluid? Tx much

Before you replace the solenoid pllease check the filter..and replace it..line preseure and tcc will suffer more if the filter is clogs..

Can also be caused by bad / corroded system ground wires, bad transmission input / output sensors, also known as speed sensors or pulse generators or a bad trans temp sensor.

Sir, I have a 2012 Honda Accord which has run around 700,000km. Last 1 or 2 years, it started to show shifting problems. No trouble codes shown in diagnostic tool. When I move the gear to D or R, the car will not move for few seconds, and after few seconds, car will get to move but with load sound that could may damage the axle. This problem is only on morning or anytime after some time of not using the car. When I try to unplug the battery and plug it, the problem may solve. Or will switch of the car and again start the engine, which also solves the problem temporarily. So could please help me in diagnosis of the problem

NEED HELP! I changed spark plugs and ignition coils on my 2014 vw passat. I took it for a test drive and noticed it was running better but for some reason was not catching 4th or 5th gear... you can usually feel when gear shifts. I have a toyota corolla MY 2009 1.8 / transmision model U341E that has problems with 1st shift; the car runs too slow until get almost 20 miles but some times works well on mornings for about 30 minutes! The ECM report an error code P0974 ( shifth selenoid trouble ). In other hand; its oil transmision level was ok. It has a Brown color apparence bout I observe an small bouble on it. How coild ñ known is the transmision oil has contamination? The oil contaminación could cause a selenoid malfunction? As adicional comment, 1 month before l fixed the car radiator because it was stuck! I hope could you share me your suggestions about my case! Thanks

Maybe the transmission cooler failed. Also try changing transmission fluid before replacing the solenoid. Hopefully that fix the issue.

Taurus 02. Starting cold, It wont shift out of 1rst gear. After 5 minutes warming up, I can then shift freely all day until it cools. New Transmission fluid and filter.

My toyota previa engine will just die if I shift to D or R gear. It happens when the engine is hot. The engine will just die (while I was driving it) I free the gear and start the engine back..and it just die when I shit to D or R. What would be the cause of the problem?

This was a really good informative video. Hey i was wondering if i could try using Marvel Mystery Oil in my 2001 Ford F-150 transmission to see if it would clean a sticky solenoid? I’ve always had very good luck over my years of messing with engines, for sticky lifters and such. Hell it even cleans the rings.

2011 Kia Sorento, slow acceleration and seeming lack of power, in auto shift has trouble shifting but manual/sport mode will shift but still lacks acceleration. No check engine light, compression, fuel pressure all checked out, everything pointed to bad torque converter, pulled transmission and put in new torque converter, also changed wire harness because I had read that was a problem with these, did not change pump which may have been a mistake but it wasn't making any noise so left it, got it all back together and took it out, same problem, looks like I have to pull transmission again, would a bad speed sensor cause problems or bad pump, my experience in past is if pump goes bad it makes a lot of noise and this is not ? Trying to see if something might fix it without having to pull transmission again.

I feel like my 04 pontiac vibe (Toyota drive train) stays in passing gear a bit too long when on the interstate. Like is I’m going up a moderate grade at 70-75mph and it downshifts….I’ll crest to hill/grade and then it seems like it stays there for longer than it should. This would be in Cruise control mode btw….not sure if that matters.

Im having issues with the 2016 exploder 4cyl ecoboost transmission. It tends to bang into reverse once you've only throttled up like its not getting pressure thru the solenoid. Ive had the reverse solinoids replaced twice. First time under warranty. Second time it never helped. I replaced the whole valve body and solinoids, and there was no change in the reverse bang. I've changed the fluid twice, with lucas aditive no change. I believe there is a glitch in adaptive learning. I've had it reset and still issues! It angers me after 100 years of design that computers are destroying transmissions when mechanical transmissions worked fine. Aaaaaaaaaah! Help!

I vote H€££ NO don’t buy! We bought a brand new 2019 NAVIGATOR XL we now have a total of 35,000 miles on the car. However, in 2021 and about 12,000the transmission had to be completely replaced after a couple of months of the dealership having our car and Ford trying to avoid replacing it and going back and forth on bandaid fix attempts. Here we are 20,000 miles later with the same issue surfacing. The transmission refuses the shift gears when you accelerate to freeway speed or if at freeway speed fails to downshift in order to pass, so your slowing down at 6000 rpm’s because the automatic transmission has engaged the clutch to shift but the shift never happens. There were no other indications on the idiot lights like low transmission fluid prior to presenting this failure mode. Naturally, it’s doing this in the middle of Thanksgiving travel plans. I am ready for lemon law legal action. 😡

I have a 2015 300s awd with the 8 speed transmission I have a question that no one can seem to answer, I have a 2015 300s awd with the 8 speed transmission it currently has 209k miles well on every start up cold start or hot start from gear 1 to 3 it goes kind of high before it shifts then gears after that are smooth but once I start to slow down from gear 6 all the way to 3 it kicks so from gear 6 to 5 it’s a light kick then from 5 to 4 it’s a heavier kick then from 4 to 3 it’s a harder kick then from gear 2-1 it’s normal No engine light and no codes, I took it to a transmission shop and they said that nothing is wrong and that they couldn’t replicate what I was telling them so to them it seemed fine but I know there’s something wrong on the shifts the service transmission light came on once then went off It still currently kicks they recommend a new transmission filter/pan as it’s integrated together with new trans oil and they will add a special oil to it’s running me 1400$ they said it could fix the problem or it’s couldn’t fix the problem I’m willing to pay the 1400 if it’s gonna fix it but it’s a waste of money if it’s not gonna do anything for me

I have a 2015 f150 that had transmission and torque converter rebuild by AAMCO. I now randomly hear a loud clunk either when quickly decelerating or when it sticks shifting a gear-for a second. No codes are popping up except engine misfire. When I took it to Firestone both could not duplicate the clunk or misfire codes. Said it just may be a bad differential. The curiousity is that this clunk did not exist before the rebuild.
