Looks great! Now you guys just need to build an awning over the patio, so you can enjoy it year round.
@tinacatharinaeden27112 жыл бұрын
I added an awning to my patio several years ago and it has made all the difference. Especially when it rains. It also keeps the sun out and keeps the house much cooler. But it's a big expense so I understand if it's not possible right now?❤️

I could just "eat them up" (as my grandmother used to say) when they do that sweet belly laugh. We just had a granddaughter born & I can't wait to get my hands on her. They live in TX & we're in NC but they're coming home in a couple of months so she'll have some age & personality by then & I am going to savor every single second with her!

Regarding your comments about not being able to work in the rain... could you and Kaylee all the guys PLEASE give Rodrigo a hand to get his house dried in so that he can continue to work when it is raining? He is going to have the same problems with the rainy season and it is just going to get worse every passing day. It was great to see you all working together on the goat barn! The patio looks awesome! Great job!

@@jgoo4572 I didn't mean to imply that they don't care about Rodrigo, because they do. Also, Rodrigo seems very happy with his tree house. He just needs some help, or that A-frame will never get done.

My tip for grouting is make the grout a little stiffer. After you clean out the grout lines and just before you apply the grout, dampen the grout lines with a large wet sponge. This will give you a good bond. Then wipe off the tile with a wet large sponge ringing out the sponge in a bucket of water frequently.

Yes I worked at a home building store and had training from the group manufacturers and was told consistency of smooth peanut butter was best for performance and proper results. But hey they're learning and will see as they go for next time how to correct it, it's part of the learning process.

Thanks for the feedback guys. We are about to start our tile project this weekend and I happened to see this video with grout in it and thought "that looks a bit thinner than what I thought was right?!" Then as one does I questioned everything and thought maybe we were thought wrong! Your first time doing a big project is a little scary, especially an expensive project! We just couldn't justify paying 5 grand for someone else to do it when we knew we could put in the research and do it ourselves with only time being spent, not thousands of dollars! Thanks again for the advice.

Exactly. Stiff like in the close-up camera take. It cleans up much easier when you take an almost dripping wet grout sponge along the joints before it sets up.

Gorgeous patio!!! Jordan, think “thick Greek yogurt” when mixing grout. From the first close up shot it looks too loose and wet, as it dries it will sink. A good lesson for when you get to the finishing touches on the bathroom. I got to hand it you you all, your energy, your willingness to learn from errors, with a smile, and to continue on is a testament to the “Loving Vibes” you have for all at Lola’s Farm!

Sadie giggling, Kaylee dancing with Sadie (music always seems to improve everyday life), and finishing up the patio....all contributed to a great start to my Friday. I love how positive you are, and you all make me smile. Jordan: If that was a freak out-you're good! LOL

Wow...it looks great! Usually, Jordan, people wait for the grout to set up, and then clean the excess with a damp sponge, and a bucket of water to rinse it in... Just have to be careful not to wipe the grout lines too much, when wiping.... But what you did turned out great! By the way it's called Muriatic acid...lol... That baby is getting cuter by the day, if that's possible, and her cute little personality is starting to show sooo much... You two are blessed... I hope you cherish these times. You are making beautiful memories that you will remember, and recount when you grow old...☺☺☺

Agree with others who say cover with a patio roof. I'm thinking a painted metal frame, with glass panels to shed the water and let light through, to make so many days a year you guys can hang out and cook all year. Along the drip line, you could plant something that loves water, (English cakes? Cress?) or put up a gutter to direct water where you want it - outside tub/ laundry tub or pool?. @ 14:24 You both looked so cute and funky dancing! :-D And the porch looks so beautiful! Maybe on the low side of the patio, stepped down, you could build another living space, making the patio into sort of a breezeway kitchen between the two living spaces. No matter what you decide, your place is getting SO exciting!

Nice! We tiled one of the bathrooms when we built our house, it looked awful so we had our builder do the rest, he did a incredible job, he even did it on the side of the island in the kitchen, I have no idea how he did it because I just gave him boxes of tiles. I have no idea why but my mind keeps imaging a very simple large different colored flowers in varying levels on the long white wall, one flower here & one flower there, with maybe two or three pieces of grass at the bottom of a flower. A very simple design that in time Sadie can paint again every time you repaint the wall. So sweet!

The green is due to a complex reaction during the curing process that's attributed to sulfide sulphur. The pink is a possibility of the sealer being wet still as well as the natural variation in terracotta.
@jjackson86672 жыл бұрын
It was never shown if the muriatic acid was flushed with water and neutralized. The pink could be a reaction to the acid residue and the chemicals in the sealer. I might be concerned that the effectiveness of the sealer might be compromised. No matter, I think the patio looks good and complete. Time to start another project.

Hi, I'm Panamanian living in Canada for almost 40 years, I do a lot of renovation and I use muriatic acid to clean mortar cement from brick walls not grout, for grout, only wash with water 3 times, let it dry and then clean the haze with (dry) paper towel, old rags or newspaper. I see a lot of homeowners freak out with the haze when we leave work for the next day and pass all evening washing the tiles for nothing because when we arrive we scrub with dry paper towel, and it is gone, we don't use the muriatic acid in the floor tiles because it weakens the grout, if you need to use an acid better use acetic acid (vinegar).

I have a suggestion. What if you built a tarp structure? Something that is light enough to move. You might even use the guide rods from a tent. Attached to an aluminum frame you weld. Use sandbags on the uphill side to stop water flow and you have a portable outdoor workstation, for rainy season. You may want to construct a smaller one to house your generator. Of course, it would have to include strong anchors for the wind
@garykoblitz49322 жыл бұрын
Perhaps this will be mentioned later in the video, but it's essential that you seal the grout after it dries. This will help keep it clean. Also, wiping the grout with a damp tile sponge is easier than using a dry rag.
