You made me do a deep dive on coconut crabs, and they're pretty wild. They're the largest land-dwelling arthropod on the planet, but they start out as tiny little plankton. They actually do love coconuts, so I think that's where they got the name. They also eat fruits, other crabs, rats, and even seagulls. Their predators tend to only be humans and other larger coconut crabs. They have the strongest grip strength of any pincered animal (with a force of up to 1500 Newtons, whereas a bear's biteforce is only 1410 Newtons). When they get larger than plankton-sized, they'll start finding shells to use for protection (they're a type of hermit crab), and around this time they'll crawl out of the water and become land dwellers (and won't ever be able to swim again, for some reason - they can only live on land once they're bigger). They'll climb up trees to get at coconuts and use their pincers to break them open. They're considered a delicacy - and an aphrodisiac - in some places (and it sounds like they taste pretty good), but eating them is frowned upon because they're an endangered species due to overhunting, and it's also frowned upon because if the crab eats something like a poisonous sea mango and then you eat the crab, you could die from it.
