I didn't hear the live, but as general ideas: if the sound was peaking, he probably had a backup track set at a lower volume, and if there was a lot of background noise he might have had a mic positioned further away recording a track that he could then run through a low pass filter (to remove high frequencies that would become out of sync because of the distance) and invert to subtract it from the main track. Sorry if this was obvious or if there was other kinds of noise you were referring to, but I just thought I would chime in in case you didn't know about such techniques.

One of the many, MANY things I love about Angelina is that her live performances often seem slightly different. She seems to add a little twist to the song, so it always seems fresh. Thank you, Steve, for standing out on the sidewalk recording for those not able to be there and thank you James as well. Any day we get to see more of Angelina is a good day. 🥰

She is so expressive when singing in any position with her hand and arm movements. The voice is always outstanding. Wow, this was a wonderful performance. And thank you to Steve Ackerman for filming this and to James Thiel for putting together this video. I came away from this performance with the confirmation of something I have suspected all along. Angelina’s runs, riffs, and melismas are totally organic. They just come out of her. This recording is actually a second take. She messed up the last two or three words of the song so they did another take. Towards the end of the song, the two versions of the falsetto run were completely different from each other. They didn’t seem to be rehearsed… Angelina seems to just go with the flow and what comes out, comes out. 🎶💙👣 Thank you guys (Jim and Steve) for doing such a wonderful job. I felt like I was almost there. 🫶💛

WRONG... the first take was abruptly ended when the mic literally flopped down, coming loose and rotating downward from above the arm to below. Angelina's power just Knocked it Out ! It surrendered. 😇Jim

Without wishing to be utterly pedantic about this, my wish for commenters who have discovered a fact or assertion is not correct would be to correct it with an edit to the original comment with the word edit to signify the change. I guarantee this is how the endless stories that perpetuate guesses suppositions and such survive. Not everyone reads the full comment and the replies....

That mic was not secure at all! As we all know, Angelina pushes the limits of every microphone, often grabbing it, and modulating it and positioning it to best pick up her voice. This one, she knocked off its stand right at the last belt on the first take! So, we’re hearing the second take of Bad Valentine. I was there, so I didn’t mind hearing it twice! I was standing right next to Sara!

There are 3 Wish buses, one in the Philippines, one in Korea, and one in LA. As far as I know the LA one only records performances in LA.
