Oddly enough, I’m now the owner of this bike. It’s my first bike. I was browsing the good ol interwebz trying to learn about it and came across this video. As soon as you started describing some of the details my jaw dropped lol it’s a pretty intimidating beast of a machine for a beginner bike and I almost sold it for something smaller but I’ve decided to keep it. I think 20 years from now I’ll be glad I hung onto it. It’s just too awesome of a bike. Thanks for the history lesson. Now I just need someone to teach me how to ride the damn thing so I don’t kill myself.

Oh damn! That's fantastic...be careful, and take a riding class at Nelson's ledges. It's a fierce bike.

I can't believe the Bandit 12 is your first bike. That's pretty insane. You should've started with something smaller tbh.

Had a 1998 1200s . Scared the bejeezus out of me first time I rode it. Wasn't used to that kind of torque. I grew to love it. My son dropped me off at the train one day to pick up my bike. I was still new to the power it had. So I wanted to show off to my kid diving next to me. I kicked it into second and hit the throttle. The entire front end pulled up on me in a wheelie. Never did that before. When I got homes he ran his hand across the bike and said :Damn dad, you're a lucky dude" . I said yeah son,its a fun bike, Then I went and changed my shorts.LOL Miss that bike.

Bought one a few weeks ago. Love it. My last bike was a Yamaha FZ1 with some upgrades , full exhaust, putting out around 150 horsepower, but my new(to me) bandit with a full Yoshi exhaust feels like it hooks up harder than the yammerhammer. Great torque. Stainless brake lines, new custom seat, more. Got it for $1500 with brand new tires.

Ha. Love the Ad. Seriously, the Bandit is the most bang for the buck. I have one. The engine is indestructible. It sounds awesome speeding up to 260km/h metric system I am from Sweden. The Torque is second to none. Bang for the buck? Bandit!

The air pumps in the exhaust were also used mainly for emissions, where air was pumped into the header to burn any un-burnt fuel. This is why these bikes have gnarly after fire with an exhaust and jets🤘🏻. Block them off and it won’t pop nearly as much

Just picked up a Craigslist B12 for $1700. Giving it a little TLC and some Dale Walker magic to awake this sleepy monster. Good video!

I have my 98 1200s , I bought from Cycle City in Erie in 99. I call in "my Timex". It has Racetech upgrade in the forks, Works Performance shock, Holeshot exhast, stage 2 with K&Ns,much more. It's done it all, trips,Deals Gap, Colorado roads, commuting, and many laps around Nelson Ledges and Pitrace. Just went over the 50k mark. Thinking of completely dissembling it this winter and a 1216 kit. It's fun factor and versatility make it worth much more than the resale value.

Piston oil squirters are common many bikes and cars have them and it doesn't squirt into the combustion chamber it cools the underside of the piston..

Interesting video, although the bike has "sold"and not suprised at all about that! As a 1200s Bandit owner that was a good history lesson and I couldn't agree more as to it being a cool fun bike to own. Thanks, Scott in Detroit

what a piece of junk this unit is. My B12 is a lovely beast... TASTEFULLY modded with bigger pistons and better suspension, etc. Not Fleabay crap on a junker like this one!

This is a wheelie training bike. Not a trailer queen. The new owner has put 6000 miles on it since this video was shot. He's become a fantastic rider and it was his first bike over 250cc. So, I'd say for less than $3000 it served its purpose.
