In my opinion, you need a strong, memorable villain to counter the hero or the story feels lopsided and odd. That's why I'm so glad Lucy Liu went all out in her portrayal as O-ren. Another example: Gary Oldman (Stansfield) vs Jean Reno (Leon) in The professional or the best one: Anthony Hopkins (Dr. Lecter) vs Jodie Foster (Clarice Starling) in Silence of the lambs

It was implied that Beatrix was close friends with O-Ren as the did do missions together. Beatrix was also pretty tight with Vernita too. Out of all of the gang, it hurt Beatrix the most that O-Ren and Vernita double crossed her.

It would seem that the lives that most members of the assassin squad lead implies they were not happy with Bill’s decision to attack and kill Beatrix, except Elle, because it’s Elle. For once, they were colleagues, and secondly, they were professional and the gig were gunning down civilians because of Bill’s emotional distress. Not to mention Beatrix’s last line before being shot probably broke Bill because he did later on rescued the baby. That would not have been a nice display to see if you work for Bill. I think Oren was forced into killing Beatrix because Bill gave her the position of power in the yakuza, so the stake were higher for her, even though she probably didn’t like that.

That actually wasn't an accurate depiction. The hair on that piece of sliced off scalp can't be that long. That would have to be done by holding her long hair up above her head while slicing the scalp off, which was not what was shown in the movie :)

Oren had a preview of the lethal sharpness of the Bride's sword when she chopped Oren's sword sheath, clean in half with one single swing - that surprised Oren. Then Oren was injured - that scared her - then the coup d gras was taking the top of her head off with one powerful move. Imagine how sharp that was!

I like the different styles of fights in Kill Bill: Beatrix vs. Vernita: Quick, like "No big deal"...Vernita was not able to shoot her and wasn´t as quick as Beatrix Beatrix vs. O-Ren: Elegant, maybe with some kind of regret? O-Ren whispered her Apologie, Beatrix accepted. Beatrix vs. Budd: Didn´t happened, but I can imagine a FAST one, just get it done by Beatrix Beatrix vs. Elle: WOOM! BRUTAL! Elle was kind of equal to Beatrix! Fast, tough! But, in the end, Beatrix seemed more to enjoy see Elle suffering than killing her... When she snatched out Elle´s eye she showed her:"This is when someone is as tricky as YOU!" Beatrix vs. Bill: Big showdown! The exploding heart technique gave him the opportunity to have five last steps before passing out, maybe it was Beatrx´s way to say :" i rember our times as a couple, and we have a daugther rogether, BUT, you once killed my future new family and blocked me to start a normal life."

I wonder why the density of the blocks is greater on the bottom and less on top. I wonder about the microscopic bubbles in the stone. I think those blocks were poured in place. This is easily recreated from 4 local materials and also solves both the fitting and leveling questions. Certainly easier to believe that transporting 10,000 sixty tonne blocks a month for 20 years.
