He might be the best kickboxer but to say he's the baddest man is not true. Jon Jones has beat legend after legend for almost 2 decades undefeated. In a no rules or limited rules fight like mixed martial arts Jones beats anyone on the planet.
@8301TheJMan
@8301TheJMan 9 ай бұрын
@@EliteNugz Yeah, definitely - without question. Especially while in his prime a decade or so ago, people forget, (or deliberately pretend otherwise), just how deadly Jones was on his - besides being unrivalled in wrestling/grappling. So much so that his his first few fights in the UFC, that due to how deadly and well-rounded of a striker he was, (even back then, long before his prime years), and then combined with the shorts he wore - which were the style of shorts that were/are worn by many kick-boxers and Muay-Thai fighters - that I was under the impression that he was a kickboxer who had great wrestling and grappling rather than a wrestler/grappler who was also a great striker. I know nowadays within the mma community, (primarily fans and youtubers 25 years old or younger), to shit on fighters from the ,ate 2000's and early to mid 2010's, asserting that fighters nowadays are simply not nearly as skilled and well-rounded as fighters nowadays. So a lot of them argue that prime Jon Jones did nothing but beat up cans, (or dinosaurs - as many refer to them as), - but that's absolute nonsense. On the whole - yes, most UFC fighters weren't as well-rounded, but this skill-gap isn't remotely as large as they make it out to be. And furthermore, the best of the best from that era - the skill gap was negligible at best, and those who weren't as well rounded were so dominant at the skills-sets they did have that they most certainly would be tittle contenders in this era. A And Jones isn't in his prime anymore, and arguably hasn't been since the Thiago Santos fight and on, *certainly since the Reyes fight), and yet he just out-grappled and submitted with ease -one of, if not the single, most technically skilled and well-rounded HW's currently in Gane. Gane is a kickboxer first, and certainly isn't the best grappler/wrestler at HW currently, but there simply isn't anyone else in the division that is as elite at one skill-set, while then also being as skilled in their secondary skill-sets as Gane is in his secondary skill-set, (his grappling/wrestling/ground-game).. Plus Gane, is prolly the single strongest and most athletic HW since Overeem. And yet Jones dominated him and made it look easy!. Jones, whether on roids or not, is certainly the greatest and best all around mma fighter of all time, which makes his the best combat sports athlete in general in combat sports history!
@EliteNugz
@EliteNugz 9 ай бұрын
@@8301TheJMan yea that's all true and more than just skillsets Jones has a natural talent. There's many times he would barely train and party the week of the fight. Laying drunk and on coke and fight with hangovers. Imagine a Jones who fully dedicated himself to the sport. I've watched ufc from literally day one. Also fought in a mma organization called the gladiators. In my opinion Jones will still be remembered as the goat 100 years from now because I just can't see anyone beating his record.

Hoost had a 3 shot combo that he threw all the time, all the shots were fight stoppers, sometimes set up with a jab, or trap or frame. Straight right, left to the liver, then ridiculous right low kick, all at a very high speed. I can't imagine trying to stop it, the greatest fighters of the time knew it was coming and could do nothing about it.

a few annotations: Andy Hug died of acute leukemia aged 35 in Tokyo. Apparantly, he already wasn't well in his last few fights. 14:00 - Mirko Cro Cop had a broken rib, can't remember if that happened during the Hoost fight, or previously. Francisco Filho is one the most respected k1 fighters in Japan. His most feared weapon was a lightning-fast whip side kick. Hoost had a bad year when he won his 4th title: he lost his father (or his brother, can't remember) and couldn't train for a longer period due to medication. He'd been struggling in his fights that entire year. 20:55 - Hoost's kicks caused multiple fractures in Le Banner's arm, which didn't heal properly in the subsequent years. Along with Le Banner's glass chin, his arm remained a known weak spot for a long time. final note: the beginning of the K1 tournament structure was pioneering in the purest sense. No-one was sure which what fighting style the next opponent would bring: Kung-Fu, Karate, Sambo, Muay-Thai, Aikido, Savate. Only now do we know that Kick-boxing would come out on top.

@@earth7551 Cikitic doesn't look like there's that much power behind his punches but his opponents go down like they've been shot, that's real power. Like if you ever watch some of Joe Louis' kos, looks like hardly any rotation but the opponent would be out cold.

What I loved more about K1 is that everybody fought everybody. Killers fought killers multiple times and it didn’t matter how many times the fighter had lost or won against anybody else. All they had to do is beat whoever is in front of them. Certainly the GOAT of GOATs.

He was the OG Anderson Silva. Badass with a Dad bod. I watched him on late night ESPN when we FINALLY got cable in the sticks as a 90s teen. His walkdown of punch, punch, punch then chopping the leg with a vicious downward kick. Probably recalling that with rose-tinted-glasses, and it didn't hurt being named Ernest myself. Made that craptastic name a touch more bearable. Ernest Goes to Jail, Ernest T Bass, Burt and Ernie, rubber ducky, blahblahblah

My Fridays after dinner back in the 2000´s watching Eurosport... Saw all this happening and Badr Hari was great to watch! But I´ll say two names I never saw loosing that rocked the rankings instantly: Semmy Schilt (Heavyweight) and Buakaw Por Pramuk(middle).
