I think it's because UFC was in it's infancy when Ramon was smashing the opposition and so many were yet to be introduced to MMA. I saw a highlight vid of him around late 90s early 2000s and I thought he was called the Dutch Windmill which I mixed up all those years ago with 'Turbine from Hell' lol.

Highest praise to JV for his work. Check out the video titled, 'RAMON DEKKER EL DIAMANTE'. It is the first search result that pops up on YT. His nickname 'The Turbine From Hell' is an understatement. Rest In Peace Ramon Dekkers.

Another Joe Vincent masterpiece. Not enough people know Ramon Dekkers and just how lethal he was. I think the most incredible fact about him is that the Thai Royal family personally presented him with a royal award and made him the official ambassador to all foreign fighters in Thailand in honor of his achievements. He was truly 'one of them' in the eyes of many Thai fighters.

I'm a 16-year-old kid who is entering the world of Muay Thai. It is a sport that excites me and inspires me to achieve something meaningful in my life. It is because I am about to enter this world that it is important for me to share with you the story of one of the greatest fighters in Muay Thai history, Ramon Dekkers. To me, he is a true masterpiece who deserves to be remembered and recognized for his accomplishments. I think the most amazing fact about him is that the Thai royal family personally presented him with a royal award and made him the official ambassador of all foreign fighters in Thailand in honor of his achievements. He was truly "one of them" in the eyes of many Thai fighters who honored and respected him for his achievements in the ring. Ramon Dekkers was a Muay Thai master who was known for his deadly technique and invincibility in the ring. But he was not only one of the best fighters in Muay Thai history, but also one of the most respected and beloved athletes by millions of fans around the world. He left an unforgettable legacy and will always be remembered. Ramon Dekkers inspires me to work hard and achieve my goals. His story teaches me that nothing is impossible if we work hard and don't give up. Although Ramon Dekkers is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the hearts of millions of fans and fighters around the world. This is the story of a true masterpiece who deserves to be remembered and recognized for his accomplishments. Let us remember Ramon Dekkers and be inspired by his achievement as we continue to work hard to achieve our goals. Sincerely, Vess Oren

Since the Buakaw episode, it appears Joe V. has fallen into the kickboxing void. This bodes well for the great ones. Maybe we'll see episodes on Kaman, Changpuek, Urquidez, and the 90's K1 kings such as Hug, Hoost, Lebanner, Aerts, etc. Even if he just picked the Dutch masters, he'd have his work cut out for him. Joe, you are doing a great service to combat sports by providing top shelf highlights that tell great stories, and exposing your wide and diverse sports audience to the greatest fighters of all time in such a compelling way.

This is my first time ever hearing or seeing Ramon "The Diamond" Dekker. Didn't really get into Muay Thai or Kickboxing in my early years of watching combat sports. But WOW!!! This dude was a killer. His leg kicks look so violent and devastating all at the same time. And then to have his ankles fuse with his legs due to those vicious kicks he delivered and didn't even care if he break his own legs shows what type of heart and incredible discipline he had. And probably crazy as hell as well. Once again Joe you did a great job with this documentary especially on a person that I have never heard of before and I feel like I got a lot out of this documentary with your hard work keep it up my friend You're doing amazing job once again.

All Muay Thai boksers have to fuse their ankles to their legs because of those kicks.
@F-Tier_Physique
@F-Tier_Physique Жыл бұрын
@@dannyrose8699 Incorrect. Most muay thai practitioners never have their ankle bones medically fused. The thing is that Dekkers would literally throw every kick with full power, even if it was gonna get checked. Even after having his ankle fused and being told to not kick with that leg he would start kicking with full power after the first combination. There was no pulling your kick if it was clearly going to get checked, there was no 50% power. There was only full power once he decided to throw something.

It's a shame that kickboxing was labeled by the mainstream as a sport for savages here in the Netherlands untill let's say 10 years ago. That's why this man didn't get the recognition I think he well deserved here in his own country. It makes me proud as a Dutchman to see how well our country is represented around the world in sports. If you should make a comparison it is fair to say that Ramon Dekkers is the Johan Cruijff of Muay Thai and kickboxing. Maybe even bigger than that.

Not even even 10 years ago.. it started to change after Rico Verhoeven became mainstream in Holland which was in 2016

RIP, Ramon.. the Turbine from Hell! my son is a shorter in stature (so am i) and i always would show him your videos of how we can be short and pack a powerful punch. we have an optimal center of gravity. Ramon was such an inspiration to me and my son. because of Ramon, and my encouragement, he doesn't have any "small man' issues. he knows he can kick some ass and go up against the biggest foe who starts something with him. love you, Ramon!

Interesting comment. Great that he was an inspiration to yourself and your child. Was to me also - 80kg person. The relative power to scale center of gravity doesn't appear to change much though btw, only weight, hence the classes. I don't think he didd, but maybe he did have small man issues though? Seems unlikely based on his incredible modesty/niceness in inverviews. And his ICE prefight stares would never indicate, indiscriminate. I'm not sure we know, in any case, he crushed all sizes unequivically.
