Mein Bruder war Stammesführer im Stamm FRANKEN in Fürth , meine Schwägerin war Burgführerin in Fürth. Ich bin sehr froh darüber , dass ich dadurch ein sehr sozialer Mensch wurde. Hatte soziale Berufe, habe sehr verschiedene Interessen entwickelt u. kennen gelernt . Auch die LIEBE Gottes u. zu den Menschen . 1963 lernte ich Baden Powells Lady in Berlin kennen. GUT PFAD !

The Scouting movement contributed hugely to who and what I am today. I received my Leaping Wolf badge in St Georges Cub pack in Kimberley, South Africa, later graduating as a Springbok Scout while in the De Beers, Sea Scouts. [Yes! Sea Scouts in Kimberley!] I was honoured to be nominated and receive the Chief Scout's award before serving in the SA Police and later SA Navy where I received my oficer's commission. I am eternally grateful to my Dad "Kiwi" Annandale for serving as my adored Scout Master. PS "Springbok" Scout is equivalent to "Queen" or "Eagle" Scout.

It's good to know that Baiden Powell (Major General) and Lord Roberts (Field Marshal) have worked together in the 2nd Boer War. Lord Roberts came to Lushai Hills during the time when he was just a Colonel. He had named his horse Vonolel to honour Vanhnuailiana, the Great Eastern Lusei-Sailo Chief. But unfortunately, both of them did not met since Vonolel already died. He ordered his son Lalburha to take as many enemy's head as possible for his funeral.

I'm unaware of the state of Scouting in other countries but I hope their not as bad as it is here in the US. My scout camp got sold this summer after 50 years of operation, I was lucky enough to work their but it was a dying breed of camp where we still did things in a much more "uncivilized" way (No camp meals, no paved roads, no flush toilets except for the one in staff camp).

In France the Scouting mouvement forked between the Scouts of France and the Scouts of Europe (which are also present in almost every EUropean countries, and even in Canada and US). Scouts of Europe still try to maintain a strict discipline, the sense of wild adventure in nature, only using bushcrafting with minimal suplies during the camp, it's separated between boys and girls still, and stays faithful christian apostle mouvement. I'm still a chief in the young cubs branch, and we saw a massive arrival of kids this year, so I'm hoping maybe the mouvement is living again. Maybe people started realising that life in nature is good, and that putting kids away from computers for the weekends is important (and this is coming from a Computer Science guy), and that comfy modern life doesn't teach kids much about life, being independant and resourceful like the Scouts do.
